Quick question for buyers and sellers:
Did your agent charge you a “transaction fee”?
It’s been a busy start to the year! We’ve already closed over $2.2 million in real estate, even with the cold and windy weather.
As the spring market starts heating up, I want to remind people to read your contracts carefully before signing anything.
Many brokerages add transaction fees that are often just a quick money grab. At Burke Realty, our agents will never charge an added transaction fee - only a clear, straightforward commission.
If an agent tells you it’s “just a small fee” or says they can remove it when you question it, that should be a red flag. And if they claim it’s for an “extra service,” that’s not accurate. These services were provided long before transaction fees became common. Even things like document storage are required by the state, and you shouldn’t have to pay extra for them.
Before signing anything, read your contracts and don’t be afraid to get a second quote. A good agent should be working to keep money in your pocket, not adding to their brokerage’s bottom line.
