3:17am decision📱One sleepless night 💤 Two precious cats. From Dubai to London - safe, smooth and together again ❤️

28/04/2026

Dogs have been part of my life since childhood, and as an adult I’ve also had two rescue dogs — one of them is now living with me in Dubai.

A dog can bring an incredible amount of joy into your life. And because of that, we believe they deserve deep respect. These animals choose to spend their lives with us — protecting us, warming us, and giving us unconditional love. That deserves to be valued.

This is the foundation of our approach.

For example, when I was preparing the documents for Dustin and later personally delivered him, something simple but meaningful happened. He didn’t want to go straight home. He wanted to walk around the neighborhood first.

So we walked. No rush, no pressure. Just letting him feel safe and comfortable.

And only when he was ready, we went home together.

Because for us, it’s never just about documents or logistics.
It’s about the animal❤️

Anti-rabies titer test is probably the #1 reason why people don’t fly on time with their pets.

And most people don’t even understand what it is.

Basically, it’s a blood test that shows that the rabies vaccination actually worked.
Not just that you did the vaccine — but that the pet developed enough antibodies.

And this is where things get complicated.

For some countries, without this test — you cannot enter at all.
For others — you can, but you have to wait.

And sometimes… a long time.

For example:
— Turkey → 90 days after blood sampling
— Japan & Australia → up to 6 months

Yes, half a year. Just waiting.

The test itself is simple.
You take blood, send it to a lab.

In the UAE, results usually take around 2–3 weeks.

But the problem is never the test.
The problem is the waiting period that people don’t plan for.

I had a friend relocating with a dog to Cyprus.
His wife moved first.

He stayed behind for 3 months —
just because the test wasn’t done in advance.

And this happens all the time.

That’s why I always tell clients:
if you might relocate your pet in the future —
do this test in advance.

It can literally save you months.

In some countries it’s valid for 1 year.
In the EU — it can even be valid indefinitely (if vaccinations are maintained properly).

Meaning you can do it once — and be ready anytime.

Many clients ask me the same question: Is pet relocation dangerous?

From my experience, there are two main ways pets travel by air — either in the cabin with the owner, or in the aircraft’s hold (as accompanied luggage or cargo).

In both cases, animals may experience some level of discomfort. Flying involves pressure changes and an unfamiliar environment, which can be stressful. However, I’ve seen very different reactions from pets.

Some pets try to hide and wait until it’s over. Others remain completely calm — some dogs even eat and drink during the flight. In my opinion, the most important factor here is the pet’s personality. If a pet is generally anxious, it will likely feel more stressed during travel. This is very similar to people — some are afraid of flying, but still manage to travel when needed.

I also want to clarify an important point about travel in the aircraft hold. Pets are not transported with regular luggage. They are placed in a separate, temperature-controlled and ventilated compartment designed specifically for live animals. Not all aircraft are equipped for this, which is why some airlines do not offer pet transport services at all. If an airline does offer it, it means their aircraft are properly equipped.

So there is no need to worry — your pet’s crate will not have luggage placed on top of it. That is simply not possible.

It’s also important to understand that airlines take their reputation very seriously. Incidents involving animals are something they actively work to avoid. That’s why, in certain situations, they may refuse transport altogether. For example, many airlines in Dubai suspend pet transport for specific breeds during the summer months to minimize any risks.

Overall, when the process is handled correctly, pet relocation is safe. Proper preparation and choosing DocuPET for your pet make all the difference.

How to Choose the Right Crate for Your Pet 🐾

Choosing the correct crate is one of the most important steps in pet travel. The right size and type ensure your pet’s safety, comfort, and compliance with airline rules.

1. Size matters
Your pet must be able to stand up without touching the top, turn around, and lie down comfortably. A crate that’s too small is unsafe, and too big can also be risky during transport.

2. Measure your pet properly
Measure from nose to base of tail (length) and from floor to top of ears (height). Always add a few extra centimeters for comfort.

3. Choose airline-approved crates
For air travel, use an IATA-compliant crate. It should be sturdy, well-ventilated on all sides, and have a secure locking system.

4. Material and quality
Plastic hard-shell crates are the safest for cargo or checked baggage. Soft carriers are only suitable for in-cabin travel (if airline allows).

5. Ventilation and safety
Make sure the crate has enough ventilation and no sharp edges inside. The door must close securely and not open accidentally.

6. Comfort inside
Add an absorbent pad and a familiar item (like a blanket) to reduce stress. Avoid overfilling the crate.

7. Don’t forget extras
For long journeys, attach food and water bowls accessible from outside.

We were preparing all the documents and fully managing the relocation of these two brother cats — one Persian and one British — to London.

The timeline was very tight, and at that moment they were staying at a veterinary boarding facility with limited space to move around. While working on their documents, I decided to bring them to my home for a while so they could properly stretch, explore, and enjoy some freedom.

Even though I have a dog at home, they handled it perfectly — calm, respectful, and everyone kept their boundaries. The owner was genuinely happy that we gave them this little break before their journey.

They did chew on my palm plant… but I didn’t charge for that. Let’s just say plant damage is already included in our service fee 🌿🐾
