“People don’t leave companies. They leave environments.”
One year ago, I joined Jawitz Properties Southern Suburbs as Head of Sales. Looking back, I’ve realised my role was never only about selling property. It was also about creating an environment where great agents could thrive.
Over the last twelve months, we’ve welcomed 31 new people into our branch and grown our market share by more than 70%. But if I’m honest, those aren’t the achievements I’m most proud of. I’m proud of the environment we’ve built. One where support isn’t something you have to ask for… it’s simply there.
An office where experienced administrators genuinely care about helping agents succeed. Where our dedicated in-house marketing team doesn’t just create beautiful brochures, but helps agents build their personal brands for mutual success. Where prospecting teams are constantly creating new opportunities. Where technology and world-class systems free agents up to spend more time doing what they do best: building meaningful client relationships.
Coaching happens every week, not just when someone is struggling. Competition exists, but it’s healthy. We’re not competing against one another, we’re challenging eachother to become better than we were yesterday.
I’ve come to believe something over the past year. The best real estate businesses don’t simply recruit good agents. They create great agents.
That requires investment, leadership and systems. Most importantly, it requires people who genuinely care whether those around them succeed.
Not every day has been easy, as leadership rarely is. There have been difficult conversations, bold decisions and moments where we’ve chosen long-term culture over short-term comfort. But I wouldn’t change any of it. Culture isn’t built through motivational speeches - it’s built through consistent actions, repeated every single day.
To every person who’s been part of this journey, thank you! Our clients, thank you for trusting us with some of life’s biggest decisions and to Jawitz Properties, thank you for believing that investing in people will always produce the greatest return.
One year later, my biggest lesson is surprisingly simple… Real estate
