A police sergeant has allegedly shot and killed her ten-year-old daughter in Umkomaas, before turning the gun on herself.

According to the South African Police Service, “police received a call from the Sergeant's relative who reported that the Sergeant sent him a message indicating that she was tired and could not take it anymore.

Police rushed to the Sergeant's flat and after forcing entry, the bodies of the off duty officer and her daughter were lying in a pool of blood.”

Although the child was declared dead at the scene, the police officer was resuscitated by paramedics and airlifted to hospital.

Her service pistol was found next to her body.

The bodies of the missing constables who disappeared enroute from Bloemfontein to Limpopo has been recovered. According to reports the two bodies of the man and one woman were recovered at the Hennops River in Centurion while the body of the 3rd female and the Polo were discovered on the N1 Highway. All of them were travelling to Limpopo for a deployment. May their souls rest in peace and may God receive them.🙏🏼🙏🏼

A total of six suspects aged between 18 and 33 were arrested at a residence in Sizamile, Port Nolloth in the Northern Cape on Monday 28 April 2025. Operation Vala Umgodi members operationalised information about foreign nationals allegedly in possession of unpolished diamonds.

Acting swiftly, the team conducted a raid at the identified premises. The suspects have been charged with possession of unpolished diamonds as well as contraventions of Immigration Laws.
