Today is World Leopard Day, and it feels fitting to look back at a truly special sighting from this week at Ximuwu.

Our guests were treated to an incredible encounter with a magnificent male leopard, completely at ease in his surroundings. He moved slowly through the bush, pausing often, allowing everyone to settle in and simply observe. For over an hour, the sighting unfolded at its own pace, with this stunning cat giving us the privilege of following him as he went about his day.

There is something unforgettable about spending that kind of time with a leopard in the wild. At Ximuwu, we are lucky to share this landscape with them, and even luckier when they choose to share their time with us 🍀🐆

Happy Friday from Ximuwu!

A slow drive, a bit of scanning… and then suddenly all eyes in one direction.
A leopard stretched out in a tree, completely relaxed, while we watch from the vehicle below. It’s one of those sightings that instantly changes the energy on the vehicle.

For many guests, this is right at the top of the wishlist. And the best part — this is something everyone can experience. Even if your mobility is limited, the bush is still open to you in exactly the same way.

One of many beautiful sightings we were fortunate to enjoy at Ximuwu last week 🐆

Yesterday on our viewing deck, we witnessed a truly unforgettable moment. Ger asked Debby to marry him—and she said yes! 💍

Their journey together has been a long one, filled with love, challenges, and triumphs. A few years ago, Debby suffered a stroke that changed their lives, and they faced some very difficult times. But through it all, their love and determination never wavered. Today, Debby is thriving and they’re back to chasing adventures together.

A safari had long been on their wish list, but as a wheelchair user, Debby thought it might never happen. Then they found Ximuwu. In that perfect moment, with the African wilderness all around them, Ger proposed to his wonderful Debby—and we were honored to witness it.

Here’s to love, resilience, and dreams coming true. 💛

The Sark pride decided to take a stroll right past our game viewer today… and Thulani, as usual, had the best seat in the house!
Guests often ask how close we get to the animals… well, is this close enough? 😄
Just look at those full bellies on the youngsters! It’s wonderful to see them thriving and doing so well.

Today we celebrate the incredible women of Ximuwu.

From hosting to housekeeping, the kitchen, the spa and the many things that happen behind the scenes, our ladies are an essential part of everything we do. Their dedication, strength, warmth and pride in their work help create the special atmosphere our guests experience every day.

We are grateful for the passion and care they bring to Ximuwu, and we are proud to work alongside such an inspiring team of women.

Happy International Women's Day to the wonderful women of Ximuwu. We celebrate you today and every day. 🌿

Today we’re celebrating International Wheelchair Day — a moment to honour mobility, inclusion, and the freedom that accessible spaces give so many around the world.

At Ximuwu Safari Lodge we designed and built our space with guests with limited mobility in mind, but that doesn’t take away from the beauty, luxury, and wild spirit of your stay. Our accessible paths, game viewers, suites, and vehicles are all integrated in a way that feels natural and seamless, so everyone can enjoy the magic of the bush without barriers.

Whether you’re young, old, travelling with family members who need extra comfort, part of a multigeneration group where the oldest wants easy access, or just want to enjoy the luxury and private experience we offer — Ximuwu brings luxury and accessibility together beautifully. 💛

Here’s to designing experiences where everyone can feel welcome, comfortable, and free to explore. Happy International Wheelchair Day! 🌿✨

We feel it’s only fair to warn future guests…

A stay at Ximuwu may result in serious side effects: loosened belts, extra dessert orders, and the sudden belief that calories don’t count on safari.
Between sunrise coffees, bush breakfasts, long lazy lunches, and dinners under the stars, our chefs seem determined to “ruin” every diet plan that arrives at the lodge. We receive regular complaints that the food is just too good and that guests leave a little heavier than when they arrived. We sincerely apologise… but not really 🫣

A superior safari is about more than wildlife. It’s about eating beautifully, drinking well, and enjoying every single moment at the table as much as on game drive.

Come hungry. Leave happy. 🥂🍴

Strength, presence, and a moment that makes you pause.

The Sark Pride has roamed this area for as long as we can remember, and time with them never feels ordinary. During a recent visit, captured these lions with incredible sensitivity – power in every glance, calm in between.
Out here, sightings remain relaxed and personal. There is space to position comfortably, to follow behaviour as it unfolds, and to wait for the perfect image while the pride moves at its own rhythm.

For travellers who explore the bush on wheels, opportunities like this are not the exception – they are part of the experience.

Safari, as it should be.
