Boardwalk Closure Update | Nautilus Estate🌱
Following the severe storms experienced across the Western Cape and Garden Route, we would like to provide residents and visitors with an update regarding the Nautilus Estate boardwalk.
Unfortunately, approximately 30 metres of the boardwalk has been washed away due to the extreme weather conditions. This includes the entire lower platform/deck section as well as part of the lower access ramp.
As a result, we have temporarily closed the boardwalk to all public access whilst repairs and further assessments are undertaken. Repair works will unfortunately take some time, as the sea remains extremely rough and elevated at present, and we first need conditions to settle before contractors and engineers can properly assess the safest repair solution moving forward.
Currently there is approximately a 4-metre drop from sections of the remaining boardwalk structure down to where the sea is breaking below it. Due to this, it is simply too dangerous to allow access to pedestrians, fishermen or members of the public.
We kindly ask all residents and visitors to make use of alternative beach access points during this period.
The safety of our community remains our highest priority, and we appreciate your patience and understanding while conditions improve and the necessary repairs can be carried out. Further updates will be shared as progress is made.
Thank you.🙏
