Happy Women’s Day to the women who hold so much, often all at once…

The women who nurture, protect, encourage, organise, create, lead, comfort, teach, build, provide, listen, love and somehow keep moving forward, even on the days when very few people see just how much they are carrying.

Women have an extraordinary way of creating a sense of home wherever they are. Not simply through the spaces they decorate or the meals they prepare, but through the feeling they create around the people they love. In the conversations at the kitchen counter, the lifts to school, the phone calls to check that everyone is okay, the celebrations remembered, the tears wiped away, the encouragement given and the thousand small things that quietly make people feel safe, seen and cared for.

But a woman’s story is also so much bigger than the roles she plays for others. She builds dreams. She builds careers and businesses. She starts again. She takes chances. She raises families, friendships and communities. She learns, adapts, sacrifices, succeeds, gets things wrong, gets back up and keeps becoming more of who she is meant to be.

Some women are mothers. Some are daughters, sisters, wives, partners, friends, mentors, colleagues and leaders. Some are building families and some are building entirely different dreams. There is no single version of what it means to be a woman, and that is part of what makes womanhood so powerful.
