What changes are coming to Dubai?
Dubai is introducing several changes in April 2026 that will impact various aspects of life for residents, students, and travelers. Here are some key updates:
Banking Changes
• Banks will phase out one-time passwords (OTPs) sent via SMS or email for transactions, shifting to more secure app-based authentication methods.
• Customers will need to update their banking apps and settings to adapt to the new system, enhancing security and reducing fraud risks.
Education Updates
• Schools will resume in-person classes after a period of distance learning, with private schools and universities expected to return to normal .
• The Knowledge and Human Development Authority
(KHDA) will review school reopening plans on a case-by-case basis, prioritizing student safety.
Travel and Residency
• Flight operations are stabilizing, with airlines like Air France planning to resume services to Dubai International Airport.
• Temporary residency rules are ending, and standard entry rules will apply from April 1, requiring valid visas, permits, and documentation for entry into the country.
Other Changes
• Dubai Walk has officially launched its first phase in Al Ras, aiming to create over 6,000km of walkways across the emirate.
•Petrol prices are expected to be announced at the end of March, potentially impacting fuel costs.
