The UAE has announced $10 million in urgent humanitarian assistance following the catastrophic flooding that struck the Nepal–Tibet border region.
The disaster, reportedly triggered by a sudden release of water, ice, mud and rock into the mountain river system, caused widespread destruction across communities in the region.
According to reports, hundreds of people have died, while more than 1,000 remain missing across Nepal and China, as rescue teams continue searching through flood- and debris-affected areas.
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed the allocation of $10 million in emergency humanitarian aid, to be delivered through the UAE Aid Agency.
The assistance will support affected women, men and children, with UAE humanitarian teams coordinating with local authorities and international organisations to help ensure aid reaches communities in need.
Rescue and recovery operations remain underway as authorities continue assessing the full scale of the devastation.
