On September 15, the UAE–India Defence Industry Forum began in Abu Dhabi, bringing together government officials and leading defence companies from both countries to strengthen industrial and defence cooperation.

Organised by Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, the Embassy of India in the UAE and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers, the forum explored opportunities in manufacturing, research and development, advanced technologies and supply chains. The discussions also focused on moving beyond traditional buyer-supplier relations towards co-development, co-production and long-term industrial partnerships.

The initiative builds on the UAE–India Strategic Defence Partnership Framework established in May 2026 and aims to align India’s “Make in India” vision with the UAE’s “Make it in the Emirates” strategy.

Dubai Metro’s network is set to expand by 80% from 90km to 162km by 2032, with the Blue Line due for completion in 2029 and the Gold Line in 2032. Together, the two projects are expected to cost around AED55 billion.

The Gold Line tender is expected to be issued by the end of this year. Dubai Metro currently accounts for 40% of public transport ridership and has carried nearly 3 billion passengers since opening in 2009.

Etihad Airways has revealed its new First Class suites for the Airbus A330, featuring closing privacy doors, 32-inch screens and space for two passengers to dine together.

The new A330 will have four First Class suites, 24 fully lie-flat Business Class seats and 252 Economy seats. The first aircraft is expected to enter service in September 2027, with 15 A330s joining the fleet over five years.

The aircraft will operate on regional and medium-haul routes across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The UAE and Singapore have made strong gains in the 2026 Global Real Estate Transparency Index, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai among the world’s biggest transparency improvers over the past two years. Dubai and Abu Dhabi have advanced through greater digitalisation, new regulations and improved access to real-time property data.

Singapore has also climbed to 13th globally, supported by the use of AI and its 3D digital twin for urban planning and energy management.

The report also found that transaction volumes in the world’s most transparent markets rose 64% over the past two years, highlighting the growing importance of transparency for global real estate investment.

Off-plan properties accounted for nearly 70% of total sales value, with Jumeirah Village Circle leading activity at more than 12% of transactions.

A total of 850 retail property sales were recorded, while average transaction values rose 77% to AED4.4 million.

Retail rents also increased 4.5% year-on-year, although sales and leasing activity slowed in Q2 as businesses took a more selective approach.

Ras Al Khaimah is expanding its mountain tourism offering with new plans for Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak. The highlight is the Grand Loop, an 80km multi-day mountain journey connecting existing trails for hiking, climbing, camping, cycling and exploration.

A new five-day Via Ferrata will also span up to 20km across the northern cliffs, with four sections of different difficulty and mountain shelters. Trail upgrades are also underway at Wadi Khammed–Hidden Oasis, including new connecting routes, improved signage and mountain rescue support.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received Albania’s highest state honour, the Grand Star of the Supreme Order of the Eagle, in recognition of his efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries. The honour was presented by Albanian President Bajram Begaj during his working visit to the UAE.

The two leaders discussed expanding cooperation in trade, the economy, renewable energy, technology, infrastructure, sustainability and water security. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues and ways to support peace and stability.

Dubai will have four Etihad Rail stations, with two serving the national rail network and another two planned for the high-speed Abu Dhabi–Dubai service. The national network stations include Al Yalayis, which is set to open on September 30, and a second station shown in Meydan on RTA’s 2032 rail map.

The high-speed service will have stations at Al Maktoum International Airport and Al Jaddaf, cutting travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to around 30 minutes. The stations will also connect with Dubai Metro’s Red, Green and future Blue lines, creating a wider integrated rail network across the city.
