Shaikh Mohammad launches plan to turn Dubai Metro stops into art galleries.
Dubai Metro stations will soon play host to a variety of museums displaying artworks as well as offering a peep into civilisations, inventions and creativity, Gulf News has learnt.
Work on transforming the stations will begin in the next few weeks, with the museums to be ready within a year to conicide with the launch of Art Dubai 2015.
In the first phase, four stations have been identified for the project, with each to be transformed according to one particular theme. Islamic art and Arabic calligraphy, inventions, contemporary art and visual art will be the four themes around which the four Metro musuems will be set up.
The Islamic Art and Arabic calligraphy museum will feature a collection of artworks inspired by Islamic art and its evolution over the past 1,400 years. The art pieces will be varied between manuscripts, mosaics, jewelleries, in addition to other exhibits and paintings.
The inventions museum will offer an interactive learning experience, bringing to life the most important inventions in human history. The inventions will cover engineering, medicine, astronomy, math and geography.
