A VILLA WITH GUARANTEED 4-6 MONTHS RENTAL...

Mom and Dad are enjoying splitting their "home time" between Panama City and Anguilla. What's not to love about each?...

1) Anguilla - world's best beaches⛱, 6* restaurants🍴, friendly people and Caribbean-cool laid-back vibe😎. The ultimate high-end tropical-rural way to live. Step out of the house and go for a walk by the sea with the dogs.🌊 🐶

2) Panama City - go-go bustling city with all the variety/choices and energy that comes with the best economy in the Western hemisphere. The views from the 62nd floor are magnificent night and day - ships lining up for the Canal, some of which seem as big as the many off-shore islands.🚢

My parents only want to manage one of the homes, the condo in Panama. So if you are interested in owning a villa in Anguilla, well, I may be biased, but as I told my Dad...

HIS BEST CHOICE FOR ANGUILLA

"I don't think you'd be nearly as happy anywhere else in Anguilla as you are right here."

He loves our home, but was sort of surprised by that. There are a many luxurious villas that my parents could rent when they come back to stay for 2-3 months (they plan to spend half their time here).

That was the plan. But I was surprised that he was surprised! There are, of course, all the obvious plusses that are explained in the website that I made for them...

THE BIG-LITTLE THINGS

It's actually the "big-little" things that the family takes for granted, but that are SUPER-RARE in Anguilla and that are really precious...

- We have a massive generator. You can see a separate housing structure in the video (it was built just for the generator!). It can run for a couple of weeks, full time, powering the whole home without needing any more gas. If you have lived without power after a hurricane, you know this is huge.

But better still? Anguilla's frequent brownouts and short outages are simply gone. Friends complain about how annoying they are, but we never feel them.

- Ours was the first home (and there are still only a handful) that have a dedicated fiberoptic cable running straight from Lime (um, Flow) to our home. High-speed, 100% uptime, no sagging during peak periods. It's an Internet joy. And the Apple network is hard-wired from the first to second floors. So it's super-fast everywhere.

- My parents love to hear the ocean, leaving the windows and doors open. The location of our home (south-east coast) is the prime location to catch the trades, which is why it was built in octagons. Together with the ICF ("Insulated Concrete Form") construction (another first on the island), they never need to use the air-conditioning. They just kind of smile when friends complain about how hot it is - not where we live and certainly not in our home.

- You're also guaranteed your privacy on both sides and behind. No one will ever encroach with a new home.

- And finally, this will sound funny, but my parents hate mosquitoes. There are none here. If there is a period of a week of solid rain and pooling of water, we may get a few but the trades generally just keep them moving west. Most of the time, though, the conditions are wrong for mosquitoes, unlike much of the island.

We don't need to spray OFF and light mosquito candles when we spend an evening outdoors by the pool. No high-pitched "bzzzzzz" in the bedrooms at night.

"WHY DON'T WE RENT IT BACK?"

Anyway, my Mom and Dad have been thinking about this since I told them that. There's no way they'll find a spot with all these little things that are so important to their quality of life here. So...

***They want to rent back the home for 4-6 months out of the year. *** And I'm happy because I love our home, too. (I'd only have to rent for the few months they are off-island.)

So if you were thinking about renting it out to a bunch of strangers to help defray the costs, this may interest you. There are many financial advantages to sharing the home is this simple way, if you think about it.
