There is nothing like a holiday in Anguilla! Yesterday’s holiday honored the Father of the Nation, James Ronald Webster. What better way to honor him than to enjoy the national pastime of boat racing! We enjoyed at Everette’s (Pelican Bar). Beautiful day!

We are back at it! Had a pot luck and boy did it make a meal! From the bottom of dish going to the left we had corn casserole, potato salad, roasted veggies, collard greens, grilled chicken, Mac and cheese, scalloped potatoes and baked ham. Good friends, good food and good times that’s how we do here at Ocean Terrace!

What a surprise this Malbec was! It was fruity to the nose but as we tasted it the oak notes became very prominent. Wow...every other sip we looked at each other and said, “nice!”. Then we had to go back to our top choice to compare (yeah it was a two bottle night) and it places second. Our top choice still remains our top choice.

Last night we sipped on Kaiken a Malbec that was suggested to us to try. The first sip was very unexpected as it had strong plum notes. With each additional sip it became full bodied and tasted smooth on the tongue. In contrast we cracked open bottle #2 the Red Diamond and was delighted (and surprised) of the oak notes in comparison. Dark chocolate helped bring out the best in both wines. It was a beautiful night to enjoy two bottles! One more bottle to taste and then we’ll rank them best to worst and where on the island to get them.

Last nights selection was Red Diamond. It was full bodied and rounded in taste. Pam and I liked it immensely. In the meantime we found 2 more Malbecs to add to the tastings. This is a hard job people!
