Tirana after dark is a different city, and arguably a better one. 🍸

Start with cocktails on a rooftop in Blloku, then let the night do the rest. A dim, record lined room with a DJ deck at Nouvelle Vague. Leather armchairs and low lamps behind a hidden door at Spy Speakeasy. Old Albanian film posters and a rotary phone at Radio Bar. A crowd spilling out under the marquee at Kino. And when it's late enough, a mirror ball and a packed floor at Discotek.

The best part isn't the bars, it's the people in them. Locals pull you into conversation, the raki appears from somewhere, and by 3am strangers feel like old friends. As one guest put it: Tirana, I wasn't ready for you.

Tirana doesn't rush dinner, and neither should you. 🍷

The city's dining scene has quietly become one of the best reasons to visit. Courtyard restaurants tucked behind Blloku's streets, design led rooms where the plates look like art, and old school tavernas where someone's grandmother is still running the kitchen. Slow food, local w**e, and tables that stay full long after the sun goes down.

Lamb baked under the saç, fresh cheese from the mountains, seafood driven up from the coast that morning, all served with the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like a guest rather than a customer. It's not fine dining in the stiff sense. It's better than that.

When our guests ask where to eat in Ksamil, we send them past the beach bars and out to the lagoon. 🌊

The Mussel House sits on a wooden deck over Butrint lagoon, with the farm ropes bobbing a few metres from your table. What comes out of that water goes straight to the kitchen: mussels steamed in white w**e and garlic, grilled with lemon and parsley, or baked with tomato and feta. Add warm bread, a cold glass of local white and the hills across the water, and lunch quietly turns into the whole afternoon.

The kind of place that feels a world away from the crowds, even though it's ten minutes from Ksamil's beaches.

We recommend it to every guest heading south, and the photos they send us afterwards say the rest.

Lumi i Shalës looks like a photo edit. It isn't. 🏞️

This is one of those places that stops people mid sentence.
Hidden deep in the Albanian Alps, you reach it by boat across Lake Koman, and then the cliffs close in and the water turns turquoise. A few hours from Tirana and one of our favourite recommendations for guests who want more than the coast.
