Today is April Fool’s Day
Today the world celebrates April fool’s Day. Armenia declared 1 April as April fool’s Day in 2006 and since then the Armenians also make joy and fun on this day.

It is said that April fool’s Day is connected with the spring solstice. The day has been always celebrated with fun, happiness and jokes.

Another tale tells that the day is connected with the New Year celebration in France. Earlier the French celebrated New Year on 1 April, but in 16th century Carle IX changed the habit and declared New Year holidays on 1 January.


Regarding the Armenians, we have been always differed from others due to our skills of making joke and fun. Mher Mkrtchyan, Leonid Yengibaryan, “Armenian Radio”…This is a long list to name our talented joke makers. We can tell for sure that Armenian joke and humor has been always welcome not only in Armenia but all over the world.
