Von spannenden Vorträgen über Bauqualität, Nachhaltigkeit und neue Technologien bis hin zu offenen Gesprächen mit Kolleg und Partnern – genau dieser Mix macht solche Veranstaltungen so wertvoll.

Was bleibt, sind viele neue Denkanstöße, gute Gespräche und das klare Gefühl: Der Metallbau ist bereit für die Zukunft.

La Dolce Vita bei GIG

Letzten Freitag feierten wir ein italienisches Sommernachtsfest und viele Kolleg:innen folgten der Einladung.

Bei Pizza, Pasta & Tiramisu, erfrischenden Getränken und stimmungsvoller Musik genossen wir gemeinsam italienisches Flair und einen wunderbare Abend.

Ein großes Dankeschön an alle, die dabei waren und diesen Abend besonders gemacht haben!

Architekturveranstaltung am Campus Krems

Gemeinsam mit unseren Projektpartnern Hueck und Dormakaba luden wir zum Projektabschluss der Erweiterung Camps Krems Architekten zu einem spannenden Event am Campus:

🔹 Architekt Moritz Pohl von Baumschlager Eberle stellte das Konzept und die Architektur des Projekts vor.
🔹 Bei Führungen durch den neuen Campus gab das Facility Management spannende Einblicke in das Campusleben und den Betrieb.
🔹 Ein Einbruchsversuch an Eingangstüren wurde von GBD-Chef Heinz Pfefferkorn fachkundig kommentiert.
🔹 Einen Brandversuch führte Barbara Menholz von Vetrotech durch – ein eindrucksvolles Erlebnis für alle Teilnehmer.

Die Veranstaltung bot wertvolles Wissen für die tägliche Praxis und förderte den fachlichen Austausch.

100 New Bridge Street, London – Installation Update

A major milestone has been reached: the last façade unit has been installed!

To recap: after production in Attnang (Austria), the units were complemented with GRC panels in London. Now the full façade looks essentially complete – a fantastic achievement for everyone involved.
The next step: keeping up the momentum and bringing the project to a successful close!

Our team recently attended the site of a regular client to assess a broken glazed unit as part of an insurance claim. Upon inspection, we quickly identified the extent of the damage and took immediate action to mitigate risk by applying an external safety film — effectively removing the danger of falling glass. 🛡️
We then worked to identify the original glazing specification, including the existing solar control properties, ensuring the replacement would match seamlessly in both function and appearance. 💡
Once the new unit was manufactured to spec, we returned to site for a smooth and efficient installation, restoring safety and performance to the building.

Exciting progress as our team carries out a like-for-like replacement of three triple-glazed glass panels on a Main Reception on a Residential Building in central London. With careful planning to match existing specifications, the right equipment—including a glass manipulator, vacuum lifter, crane and scissor lift—and an experienced crew, we’re ensuring a seamless and safe installation.
Thanks to our team for their attention to detail and commitment to safety—including setting up exclusion zones, coordinating site access, and working efficiently to complete the replacement in just two days.

Throwback: Horizon Norwich
🏛️ A Monument to Modernism 🏛️

In the heart of Norwich, GIG took on a unique challenge: roofing an inner courtyard for Norwich Union, one of the UK’s largest insurance companies. The project seamlessly integrated a heritage-listed building from 1621 while upgrading the entire floors to modern standards.
A 40-meter-long bridge now connects different sides of the floors, but the real challenge? Limited access. With just 3.7 meters of entry space and no room for a crane, every component was precisely prefabricated and assembled at installation height with millimeter accuracy.
The result? A stunning glass atrium — where history meets innovation. ✨🏗️
