Funny how things play out.
A couple years ago I was warning people rates wouldnāt stay near zero forever. Got laughed at, told I had no ideaā¦ same old.
At the same time, I started a transportable housing setup for one reason only ā to actually help people.
I knew a lot of families simply couldnāt afford the luxury of a roof over their head anymore, so I built something to make it possible. Thatās why the pricing was so low.
Flat-pack homes, designed for owner-builders. If you were willing to put in the work, you could have a fully council-approved 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home for around $60k (excluding plumbing and electrical).
Not a mansion. Not luxury.
A realistic way forward.
But apparently that wasnāt good enough.
Instead, I got hit with pure, delusional greed.
People expecting $2 million finishes on a $60k build š¤£
Stone tops, high-end fittings, turn-key buildsā¦ for the price of a used ute. Make that make sense.
Then came the classic onesā¦
āCan you cover mains connection?ā
āCan you pay for electrical?ā
āCan you include builders?ā
āCan you do it cheaper?ā
āCan you do it faster?ā
At that point I was waiting for:
āCan you just pay my electricity bill while youāre at it?ā š
And the best part ā multiple people came back AFTER the fact saying:
āI found out what it cost youā¦ why am I paying more?ā
As if Iām meant to run a business for free š¤£
Apparently making any profit while trying to help people was offensive.
So yeah ā I shut it down.
Not because it didnāt work.
Not because it wasnāt needed.
But because a handful of greedy, entitled people completely ruined it for the ones who actually needed it.
Thatās the part that annoys me most.
The people who genuinely couldāve benefited ā the ones doing it tough ā lost out because others just couldnāt help themselves.
Now rates are up, costs are up, and the exact solution people hadā¦ is gone.
All I was trying to do was help.
Turns out thatās not something everyone deserves.
In saying that. People who truly do need help i will help. If you ask for something free and I see you upgrading ya TV or buying a new car I will not help you. Because you clearly are happy to waste money on something you don't need and not say a thing. But abuse me because i made a small profit. Or if I didn't include a a 20k build for free I'm a bad person
