As we round off another financial year, you may be hiding under a rock if you aren’t aware (or possibly don’t care) that our Real Estate market is in a natural state of transition. With influence from the RESERVE BANK via rising interest rates or the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT via policy changes – either way this was always going to happen.

Our most recent boom has followed a very similar pattern to the early 2000’s – such as length of time of the rising market, rapid growth rate and the impact of international events - all these factors present similarities to the boom 20 years ago.

The media will attempt to sensationalise the changing market, remember they always do this! Try not to listen too hard to what the media says, on national TV they consistently refer to our Real Estate market without reference to which Capital City they are referring to – whilst basing their story on Sydney or Melbourne results. Each city has “micro markets” within their greater landscape, which can operate independently to surrounding areas. The generalisation of Real Estate on a national level can often be mis-leading.

Home ownership and investing in Real Estate requires good financial budgeting. Focus on the priorities when paying your bills, save money for a rainy day - & enjoy the journey! Adelaide will eventually enter its typical period of “flat growth”, as we plateau for a period.
