Welcoming the Next Generation to the SAPS Team 👏🎨

We’d like to wish the newest addition to the SAPS team, Billy, all the very best as he begins his first week of trade school next week.

Over the years, South Australian Painting Services has proudly supported several apprentices through the completion of their trade qualifications — but this one feels a little extra special.

Billy’s father, Alan, has been a valued member of the SAPS team for the past couple years, so it’s been great to already see some of that knowledge and experience being passed down on-site. There’s something rewarding about seeing the next generation entering the industry and developing their skills firsthand.

Billy is now stocked up with all the tools of the trade and ready to take the next step in his painting career. We’re looking forward to supporting him throughout his apprenticeship journey and helping him grow into a fully qualified painter and decorator.

We were recently engaged by a client at a quaint winery in Echunga, Adelaide Hills, to breathe new life into a cottage that hadn’t been touched for decades.

From the outset, the priority was clear — restore and enhance, without compromising the original character and charm of the building.

This required a patient and considered approach to both preparation and product selection. The process included:

✅ Careful preparation of aged surfaces

City Apartment Refresh – Ready for New Tenants 🏙️🎨

In between a couple of larger projects, the SAPS team had the opportunity to complete a full interior repaint of a city apartment, preparing it for its next tenants.

Turnaround time is critical in rental properties, and this project was all about delivering a clean, fresh finish efficiently — without compromising on quality. From thorough preparation to final detailing, the apartment is now bright, refreshed, and move-in ready.

Another smooth project completed and handed back on schedule.

Delivering Quality, Care and Compliance – Calvary Aged Care Project ✅
Over the past three years, South Australian Painting Services (SAPS) has proudly supported Calvary Aged Care across multiple Adelaide sites with ongoing painting and maintenance services.
One of our final projects for 2025 involved an extensive internal refurbishment carried out over an eight-week period. This project included:
🛠️ Interior repaint of two main residential wings
🚪 Repainting of approximately 250 doors, laminated cupboards, ceilings, walls, architraves and skirtings
🎨 Implementation of a refreshed, modern colour scheme
The client initially engaged SAPS to resolve widespread flaking timberwork, caused by a previous contractor applying a water-based enamel over existing oil-based finishes — a mistake that led to coating failure.
To rectify this, all affected surfaces were sanded back to the original oil-based substrate, properly primed, and refinished using a high-performance water-based enamel system. The result? Long-term durability, improved aesthetics, and ease of future maintenance.
Given the sensitivity of working within an aged care environment, we followed strict compliance protocols via the Rapid contractor portal:
✔️ Staff inductions, pre-approval & police checks
✔️ Site sign-in/out, JSAs & safety controls
✔️ Use of low-VOC coatings
✔️ Daily coordination with Calvary staff to minimise disruption
We’re proud to share that the works were completed five days ahead of schedule, allowing the facility to transition smoothly into the holiday period. Even better — the feedback from Calvary management and on-site staff has been overwhelmingly positive.
This project reflects the professionalism, precision, and people-first approach we bring to every job.

🔥Beating the Heat — Glenelg Interior Repaint Complete 🎨

☀️With extreme weather rolling through South Australia lately, the SAPS team has been grateful to kick off 2026 with some indoor projects — including this beautiful internal repaint of a newly purchased character home in Glenelg.

Working closely with the client and in collaboration with our trusted professional network, we helped prepare this home for move-in:

✅Timber floors sanded back to bare and sealed with a premium waterborne finish
✅Protective flooring installed to maintain surface integrity during painting
✅Full interior repaint, including all previously painted Fret work, cupboards and cabinetry

The job was strategically timed to be completed before the client moved in, allowing us full access and clear working areas — resulting in a clean, efficient transformation and another home ready for furnishing.

Great to see it come together smoothly. On to the next!

🎨 Kicking Off 2026 – Balhannah Repaint Complete ✅

The SAPS team has well and truly hit the ground running in 2026, with several projects coming to completion early in the year.

This repaint of a charming character home in Balhannah. The refreshed colour scheme includes a bold touch of pink, bringing personality to the space while complementing the home’s classic features.

We love when clients aren’t afraid to embrace colour — and the end result speaks for itself.

The SAPS team has just wrapped up a complete interior repaint of this beauty in Crafers! Over a three-week period, our client trusted us to refresh their home, and we delivered with precision, care, and quality workmanship.

🏠Character Home Restoration in Prospect

The SAPS crew has done it again! This recently completed exterior repaint in Prospect was all about precision, attention to detail, and going the extra mile.

✅ Thorough Preparation – Every previously painted surface was carefully attended to, ensuring a flawless finish while keeping the original colour to maintain the home’s character.
✅ Front Door Revival – We stripped away old varnish and applied a soft walnut stain and varnish finish, bringing warmth back to the entry.
✅ Restoring the Details –
🔹 Cleaned and polished the brass door hardware to make it gleam.
🔹 Removed rust and corrosion from the cast iron lacework, finishing it in a durable epoxy enamel black.
🔹 Freshened up the old lights and cast iron umbrella stand with the same epoxy finish for a seamless, elegant touch.

It’s the small things that truly make the difference in a project like this, and we love bringing heritage homes back to life.
