Could Gladstone be the next Shenzhen? 🇦🇺⚡️🇨🇳

After finishing a tour of Shenzhen, China, to see firsthand what a real Special Economic Zone can become, one question keeps coming back to me…

Shenzhen shows what can happen when the right policy settings bring people, capital, infrastructure and opportunity together at scale. From that ecosystem grew companies like Huawei, Tencent, BYD and DJI — businesses that went on to compete with the best in the world.

So look at what Gladstone already has:

⚡ Enormous energy resources across gas and coal
☀️ Massive solar and renewable projects in the pipeline
⚛️ Nuclear power now part of Australia’s political conversation
🚢 A world-class industrial harbour
🏗️ More than 26,000 hectares of State Development Area land
👷 A skilled, world-class industrial workforce
💧 Water, heavy industry, infrastructure and room to build at scale

These were the things I looked at when I moved to the Gladstone region and decided to invest here.

I knew I was probably 30 years early.

But with AI, Bitcoin and blockchain infrastructure now being built at scale globally, maybe the timing is finally right.

Shenzhen didn’t become Shenzhen by thinking small.

Gladstone already has the raw ingredients.

America has Texas. China has Shenzhen. Kazakhstan is positioning Astana for the next generation of technology and digital infrastructure.

Gladstone looks to me like Australia’s first — and best — choice.

So what is Queensland waiting for?
