⚠️Important Rates Notice Update⚠️

We apologise for a technical issue that has resulted in some ratepayers not receiving their previous rates notice (Q4 2021-22) by email, resulting in some ratepayers seeing an overdue balance on their current rates notice (Q1 2022-23).

We are currently working through the process of waiving any accrued interest charges for those people who receive their rates notice by email, where Council has made the error.

As long as ratepayers pay the outstanding amount for both quarters by the Q1 due date of 5 August 2022, no interest charges will be incurred.

This has been caused by an issue with our service provider and we are currently working with them to amend the issue.

If you receive your rates notice by email, we ask that you regularly check your junk and spam email folders to ensure your rates notice hasn’t been incorrectly categorised.

If you are experiencing financial hardship as a result or for any reason, you can apply to enter an interest free repayment plan under Council’s hardship policy - https://www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/Services/Property-Ownership/Rates/Rates-Payment-Plan

⚠️SEVERE WEATHER WARNING⚠️

Just when it seemed Mother Nature was giving Queensland a break she’s decided to send some wind our way!

Damaging winds are forecast across parts of south east Queensland, including Warwick, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Maroochydore, Stanthorpe, Caboolture, Coolangatta and Ipswich.

Peak gusts of 90km/h are possible over the south eastern interior this evening and into Tuesday.
From tomorrow morning those gusts may reach the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast areas.

Soil across south east Queensland remains saturated, heightening the risk of gusty winds bringing down trees and powerlines.

You need to stay up to date with the warnings and prepare for the worst. This severe weather is now expected to continue through to Monday.

If your area is being impacted, NOW is the time to take action to keep your family and home safe.

🎒 Make sure you have an emergency kit packed with essential items
⚠️ Store poisons well above ground level
⛈️ Know which indoor items you will need to raise or empty if floodwater threatens your home
☔ Check in with your local council about sandbagging and evacuation routes and centres

Advices from Unity Water if you are experiencing issues with your toilets or drains.

Take care and stay safe!

Our sewerage network is being inundated by large volumes of stormwater from the extreme wet weather ☔️ and this can cause toilets and pipes to 'gurgle'🚽 💦 The best thing to do if this is happening is to limit your toilet flushes and water going down your drains (including from washing machines and dishwashers) if you can. The gurgling should ease as the weather does.⛅️ Our crews are doing their best to respond to a large number of jobs in really difficult conditions and we thank you for your understanding and patience as we resolve water and sewerage issues across our region.👷‍♂️ We hope everyone is staying safe and dry!
