BREAKING: Victoria has released its annual data for “Authorities to Control Wildlife”, showing a sharp rise in native animals approved to be killed.

⚠️ Included were 4,321 wombats approved to be killed , a massive increase on the 2,692 the Victorian Government allowed in 2024.

Victoria also approved the killing of:
- 162,644 eastern grey kangaroos
- 870 galahs
- 3,410 rainbow lorikeets
- 424 brushtail possums

These are sentient animals. They are part of Victoria’s ecosystems, landscapes, and identity. Yet the state continues to authorise killing on a scale most people would never imagine.

This isn’t “control”. This is a system that normalises the mass killing of wildlife quietly, annually and with government approval.

Find out more about Victoria’s licence to kill system and how we can end the disturbing practice here: https://takeaction.humaneworld.org/page/186199/action/1?locale=en-AU

What is going on here

❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓

Appin is in a Labor electorate.

One can only assume, based on this video, that the swamp is very deep.

We need to do better, across Australia.

Why isn’t this front page news?

Because it’s not a photo opportunity right?

We understand our area is growing, but we need better planning outcomes for our wildlife here.

Their future depends on each and every one of us…

Bringing advocates to the table would be a great start.

It’s not that hard.

It’s about finding balance.

Behind every plate of kangaroo meat was a wild animal hunted in the dark, often with little oversight, leaving injured survivors and orphaned joeys scattered across the Australian landscape. For years, Belgium absorbed more of this trade than any other country on earth, making it the single largest driver of demand for wild kangaroo slaughter.
That changes on July 1, 2026. Belgium has officially committed to ending its kangaroo meat trade entirely—a decision that sends shockwaves through an industry built on the exploitation of wild animals for commercial gain. When the world's top importer closes its doors, the ripple effect reaches all the way back to the Australian outback.
Kangaroos are not livestock. They are wild beings who belong in their natural habitat, not on a supply chain. Belgium's decision to step away from this trade by mid-2026 is a powerful reminder that real change for wildlife begins when the money stops flowing toward cruelty.

Reposted…

Why?

Because, to date, there has been no new site secured, and environmental reports put on public exhibition to support.

Will we see sewer being trucked out like Wilton?

Rezoning large parcels of land, in the absence of critical infrastructure, in our opinion, does not meet the public test.
