🚨 APPIN — YOU COULDN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP IF YOU TRIED 🚨

Well, someone certainly got busy last night! 😂

After residents reported what appeared to be illegal dumping in the new water easement, the area was cleared out within around 12 hours.

👏 A big shout-out to Transport for NSW for getting onto the complaints and getting action happening so quickly. Credit where credit is due! 👏

But… and there’s always a but. 😂

Rather than actually removing the material off site, it appears they've simply scraped it to the side and created a collection of lovely new dirt and rubbish mounds.

Because apparently the solution to dumping is… moving the dumping slightly sideways. 🤦‍♀️😂

So instead of properly removing the material, we now have a nice little landscaping feature that Council may eventually be left to maintain.

You really do have to wonder how long Transport for NSW can keep having to tell these people to do their jobs properly before they start sending out instruction manuals.

But it seems they may have had enough…

As councils now about to enter the chat…

THE DAYS NOT OVER YET…

🚨 PLANNING ALERT — DAYCARE DA BACK FROM THE DEAD 🚨

Well, we saw the new DA for another daycare and it got me thinking about the one at Macquariedale Road…

And guess what? It’s back from the dead! 😂

📍 6 Macquariedale Road, Appin
👶 92-place childcare centre

We thought this one had been knocked on the head, but apparently not. It’s been quietly flying under the radar after making its way to the Land and Environment Court, where it was approved in October 2024.

At this rate, people will need to have more kids and probably get a third job to pay for everything! 😂

So the question is…

Will Appin eventually hold the title for most daycares in one town or even the state? 🤣

Clearly there are still a few hiding in the bushes…

Well, the bushes Walker Corporation are yet to clear! 🌳😂

A big thank you to another resident for alerting the page about this one, because honestly, we can’t keep up at the moment! 😂

The DA is open for public comment, so if you have something to say, support, concerns, objections or questions then now’s the time to get your submission in.

At this rate, how many daycares are we up to now? 🤔

Because clearly what Appin really needs alongside all the new development (200 odd lots) is a healthy combination of daycares, service stations, medical centres and bottle-os. 😂

But hey, apparently its playground is on the roof..

One-stop shopping, people! Drop the kids at daycare, fill up the car and grab a bottle on the way home, hung over, off to the Docs…

What more could a growing community possibly need? 👶⛽🍾

There were works up at the roundabout again last night.

This time, it looks like we’ve moved into a new phase of what appears to be a bit of illegal dumping into the brand-new water easement. 👀

Concrete, road base and God-knows-what-else being dumped in there.

Because… why would you block up a brand-new water easement that’s there to manage the water? 🤷‍♀️

Seriously. It makes absolutely NO sense.

Because apparently if you do it when everyone’s asleep, nobody notices.

Well… we notice. 👀

It seems compliance isn’t exactly a strength or strong point with this mob. 😂

There’s now an application for a NEW LIQUOR LICENCE for Appin IGA.

🍾 Application type: New liquor licence

There is also a public notice displayed on the front of the shop, so if you’re passing by, you can see the notice for yourself.

Shout out to the local resident flagging this with our page.

🍾 That’s now three liquor licences within 50 metres of each other, that we know of 😳.

Definitely becoming a one-stop shop, which is great for the community! 👌

🚨 PLANNING ALERT, APPIN! 🚨

Well, well, well… 👀 What’s going on behind the IGA at 78 Appin Road?

According to the NSW Planning Portal, a development application for Lot 1 DP 1099896 was determined on 25 November 2025.

And the description is:

🏢 Office premises
🏗️ Er****on of a new structure
🏠 Group home
🏠 Group home (permanent)

Now, before everyone grabs their pitchforks 😂 the paperwork does NOT say “retirement village” or “seniors housing”.

BUT… apparently we’ve gone from daycare to group home, and now there’s talk around town about a retirement village.

At this rate, 78 Appin Road is collecting development ideas like I collect screenshots. 😂

So what exactly has been approved?

And more importantly… what exactly are they planning to build behind the IGA? 🤔

Time for a little digging, Appin. 🕵️‍♀️

Because when something is happening right in the middle of our town centre, I reckon the locals might like to know what’s coming before the bulldozers arrive! 😂

Well, the Appin Historical Society now finds itself homeless.

And honestly… we saw this coming.

When Appin Inn was being restored, we were told it would provide a space for the community to use and hire.

Community advocates warned that Walker Corporation wanted it as a sales office.

But the naysayers didn’t believe us.

Fast-forward… and GUESS WHAT? Yep, a Sales office. 😂

The Historical Society was originally given space in the Inn, while Walker Corporation was using it as a sales office, until they were eventually kicked out.

Walker Corporation gave the History Room $150,000, to cover the rent for the next three years on a new space.

The then president confirming this, prior to stepping down.

However, we will never forget, their deliberate attempt to deceive the community, when Walker Corporation tried to use a VPA (Voluntary Planning Agreement) to put over $1 million of community money into restoring their own asset, the Inn.

Thanks to a local resident, who asked the question, as to why, community money, was to be used, to restore a building, the developer owned and intended to use….it was eventually removed from the VPA.

But what would have happened, it they’d stayed silent..

So, for now, the Historical Society is homeless, until a new space is created for them as part of the Appin Park Master Plan.

So I guess the moral of the story is:

Community advocates have a vested interest in protecting the community.

Developers? Well… sometimes “community benefit” comes with remarkably convenient timing. 😉

🤥 PINOCCHIO STRIKES AGAIN!

Another day, another story apparently being told to Transport for NSW 🥴 and once again, residents are having to send photos to prove otherwise. 📸😂

We’re tired of playing unpaid site inspectors.

We don’t get paid for this s**t. We just don’t want someone getting killed in the process.

DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THIS.

DO YOUR JOB.

And maybe, just maybe, tell the truth for a change and let residents get back to living their lives. 🤷‍♀️

🚨 ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER APPIN ROAD SAFETY MASTERCLASS 🚨

Well, someone has apparently decided the new roundabout construction needed a bit more excitement and ploughed straight into a telegraph pole. 🚗💥

And the response?

Absolutely nothing to see here, folks. 😂

The car has just been left sitting there with its arse hanging out, looking like it’s halfway through escaping the scene, with a lonely bit of police tape thrown around it for good measure.

Because apparently in Appin, that’s what we now call a comprehensive safety management plan.

No urgency.
No removal.
No obvious effort to make the area safer.

Just “chuck some tape around it and hope nobody asks questions.” 😂

With all the chaos around this roundabout already, you’d think SAFETY might make the priority list somewhere between “dig another hole” and “move the traffic again.”

But apparently not.

At this point, the whole Appin road network is starting to resemble Cannonball Run 🤔 except nobody knows where the finish line is, the obstacles are permanent and the stunt coordinator has clearly gone on holidays.

Well… this just keeps getting better. 😂🙄

So, according to the response from TfNSW, it appears the developer/contractor may not have even had approval for the latest round of night works.

Wait… what? 🤦‍♀️

Apparently the process of getting approval BEFORE doing the night works was a little too complicated.

No notification to residents ✔️
Night works ✔️
Residents being woken up ✔️
Approval from TfNSW… apparently not so much ✔️❌

But don’t worry, everyone. TfNSW has now told them that no further night works are to be undertaken without prior approval.

Excellent. Glad we’ve cleared that one up. 😂

Next they might need to remind them that roads aren’t private race tracks, driveways aren’t truck-washing facilities, and other people’s parked cars are definitely not community property. 🙄📹

At this point, the locals have become the unpaid night-shift supervisors, CCTV operators, traffic monitors and compliance officers.

Honestly, you couldn’t write this stuff… but apparently you can build it without approval. 😂🙄
