A run of good weather has helped push things along at Tivalley Canungra. Site clearing is wrapped up and earthworks have kicked off, giving a first glimpse of how these 14 lifestyle blocks will come together in this development.

These are the types of projects our development team take real pride in delivering.

An exciting site visit to BEATRICE earlier this week in sunny weather with the second floor now starting to take shape. The double‑height void has been framed and the set out of the upper level is underway. You can really start to appreciate the views we’ve oriented the design to, along with the relationship to the central courtyard.

MWH Constructions are putting in a sterling effort on another one of our designs. Hopefully the sunny weather hangs around so we can see our carefully considered reinterpretation of a Queenslander continue to take shape.

DEVELOPMENT APPROVAL 🎉

After many years of work from our development team, we’re incredibly proud to share that on Friday the Development Approval for the expansion of the Redbank Bus Depot for Westside Bus Co. has finally been secured!

The growth of called for a review of the long term optimal depot location. After a detailed review of suitable alternative sites, operations and future demand by John Petrie back in 2020, it was recommended for the depot to remain and expand on its current site which seemed straightforward but was far from simple to deliver.

In 2022, Westside Bus Co pressed go on Petrie™ as Development Manager to start the process to design a master plan & long process to remove the constraints and overlays affecting the site. Multiple Council easements needed to be addressed with flood engineering and removed, an existing easement with the adjoining landowner needed to be negotiated & altered and a long‑standing railway easement had to be extinguished. Environmental matters also needed to be overcome, as well as waterway mapping and extensive traffic issues with DTMR & Council. Each step required patience, collaboration and a lot of persistence.

Our in-house Petrie Architects team worked closely with the operator to create a safer, more modern & efficient layout which separates car and bus movements and incorporates best practice in depot design. Our design also introduces a new refuelling station and entry point, improved driver parking, a forward‑in/forward‑out depot arrangement, design for future EV bus charging as well as pedestrian circulation. The masterplan that emerged was considered, practical and built for the long term growth of the depot.

To now have that masterplan formally approved is something we’re genuinely proud of. This expansion will support one of the largest bus depots in South East Queensland and help deliver services to the fastest‑growing city in the state.

A huge milestone for Westside Bus Co. and a very rewarding moment for our Petrie team and the whole project team that have been part of this journey:

Yesterday, Matt, Phoebe and John from our Development team attended the UDIA Ipswich event Unlocking Ipswich: Western Growth Corridor.

The session provided insight from Garath Wilson from Ipswich City Council and Kris Krpan from Urbis on the emerging Western Growth Corridor Structure Plan.

Petrie has 12 projects in the Western Growth Corridor and over 15 across Ipswich, so our team is deeply invested in the region and have been for the past nine years. We know every street, every lot, and every constraint and opportunity in this corridor.

We’re now keenly awaiting the release of the draft Structure Plan which will provide much‑needed clarity and certainty for the next decade of growth in one of South East Queensland’s most important development fronts.

TIVALLEY CANUNGRA

Our team recently kicked off the 14 lot Tivalley Canungra project with the pre-start meeting with Scenic Rim Regional Council.

This rural large lot land subdivision development is set amongst the rolling hills of the Gold Coast hinterland and one we’re proud to be delivering on behalf of D&C International Group.

A change of pace this week for our architecture team with a client meeting in Toowoomba. We’re currently working on a number of traditional character houses which our team genuinely love creating thoughtful, considered designs that will contribute to the rich architectural identity of the city.

With a growing number of projects in Toowoomba it's always nice to get up the range and spend time in town and connect with our clients in person.

Rosewood Green Construction Update 🔨

The last few weeks have been a bit stop start with the wet weather, however despite this, progress has been made on the construction of the 60 new lots in Stage 3A and Stage 3B.

Our Petrie team has been on site regularly, coordinating Ipswich City Council and Urban Utilities inspections and attending ongoing construction meetings with BTP Civil Solutions.

It’s great to see the project advancing, with each milestone bringing these stages another step closer to completion.
