Belinda McLachlan, one of Northern Brisbane and Moreton Bay's most respected real estate agents, is stepping beyond property to tackle something more fundamental: the survival of our bees.
This Spring, that commitment takes shape as Feed The Bees, a grassroots initiative restoring bee habitats across Lawnton and surrounding suburbs.
The urgency is real. Around a third of global food production depends on pollinators, yet bee numbers are in serious decline. Disease, pesticides, climate change and habitat loss are converging to push populations to critical lows. As suburbs expand, the flowering plants bees rely on disappear, weakening colonies and threatening the fruit, nut and vegetable yields we all depend on.
To address habitat loss locally, Belinda has sourced wildflower seed packets from D&H Seed Harvest Co in Tasmania, distributing them free throughout Spring.
"We talk a lot about building community in real estate," says Belinda. "This is what that actually looks like. If every household in Lawnton plants even a small patch of wildflowers this Spring, we can make a measurable difference to our local bee population and, by extension, the food on our tables."
The goal: 100 households participating by the end of Spring, creating a connected network of wildflower patches to give local bees the nutrition and habitat they urgently need.

Because when an entire community plants together, the results are anything but small.
