The block your neighbour just sold for millions? It was a camping spot once.

In the early 1900s, South Curl Curl was so remote it was barely accessible. There were no roads, only a dirt track that ended where Gardere Avenue is today.

The first dwellings were timber weekender shacks and canvas tents, used by campers who trekked over the hills from Manly.

Those humble camping spots are now some of the most tightly held addresses on the Northern Beaches.
Not a bad transformation.
