This is a story about what’s happening in our industry to me and to other inspectors who choose to do the right thing. We don’t produce tick-and-flick reports to keep real estate agents happy — we provide honest, thorough inspections that protect buyers.

Because of this, I’ve been banned by at least two real estate agents in Bathurst and Orange.

I won’t compromise my standards, and I won’t soften findings to satisfy anyone. My responsibility is to the buyer and to accurate reporting, not to those who prefer problems to be overlooked.

We are calling for Legislation to be amended to protect Australian home buyers by preventing Real Estate agents from denying and hindering access to independent building inspectors due to deceptive and misleading conduct with sales tactics, such as having an inspection report by the vendor or by using their own inspector.
Most real estate agents push their preferred inspectors to ensure a fast transaction with the sale of properties, leaving the home buyer with little to no information or choice during the sales process.
