: The Tasmanian Government have announced all public bus services will be free for five weeks from March 28!

The move comes as fuel prices skyrocket across the state, dramatically increasing the cost of living for Tasmanian families.

State Transport Minister Michael Ferguson says the plan to alleviate the impact of current higher fuel prices will mean all public bus travel across the state will be free for five weeks – starting on Monday March 28.

Metro, Redline, Tassielink and other public transport providers are included in the plan.

Hobart! Will you be hopping on the ferry tomorrow morning? 👇⛴️

Hobart's long-awaited ferry passenger trial will kick off from Bellerive Pier at 6:20am.

The trial passenger service has been in the pipeline since 2018, and is a key component of the state government's Greater Hobart Transport Vision.

Clarence City Council Mayor Doug Chipman told ABC that he'll be one of the first to jump on board, but ultimately it's up to the state government whether the service will continue.
