Security at airports and ferry terminals in Tasmania have sophisticated surveillance capabilities that know if you have been to on your travels.

They can detect if you did not have a crayfish roll and they have the authority to refuse your exit from Tasmania.

This is a community service post - please ensure that your exit protocols have been completed and that a crayfish roll is consumed before departure is attempted.

Today we bid God speed and fair winds to Ken and as they disembark after two weeks of work / stay accommodation.

Ken and Ming worked like troopers clearing fallen branches and restocking the firewood as well as beautifying the dam area on the property.

Beautiful humans who often appeared at our door with delicious Taiwanese soups. We were equally able to share western meals with them to broaden their horizons.

Ken and Ming continue their Australian adventure with work secured in the snow fields of the Perisher ski resorts.

This is our second work / stay program at The SHiP. A mixing of cultures that proves positive that we are all human beings regardless of where we may have been born.

It has been a privilege and honour to meet Ken and Ming and we have no doubt they will be back again as visitors. They leave Tasmania as ambassadors of our beautiful island with wonderful memories of nature and star filled night skies.

Peace.

Not a cloud in the sky and as calm as a rock.

Winter warm days wandering around one of the 3km’s of tracks here at The SHiP.

We have been closed for June, but bookings are being made for August onward. One thing that all of our guests have declared is that they wished they stayed longer, even those that stayed for two weeks. Coming here for a longer stay allows you to meander at a different pace.

Sitting on the edge of Mt Pearson Reserve overlooking the coastal edge of The Bay of Fires, Tasmania, is The SHiP. It is your home away from home to explore what those that live here know is a very special part of the planet.

Our second season (December to May) was our first full year of hosting guests. We have met people from all over the world who have visited Tasmania and return home with a sense of peace knowing our island exists.

The SHiP is our home - we live upstairs. We are the ones that will bring your coffee to you in the morning if you want one. The SHiP - Bay of Fires is a hosted property. Have a look at our profile to see more and consider if The SHiP is for you (we can host two couples a night).

If you have not visited The Bay of Fires before then maybe it is time you did….not a traffic light in sight.

Feel free to message direct as well.

Cheers
The Captain.

The SHiP is at anchor presently during June. Sunny days, occasional winter dips, soups and fires at night.

June is when we replenish our stores for those last winter months

For those that are curious enough to venture to empty beaches and star filled skies - bookings are only closed for June - look us up on Air BnB for the rest of winter and autumn.

Now we have water, thanks to that amazing day the front came from the east, (I quite like the idea of a problem being sorted in one day), we can grow things. Which means things can eat things.

The SHiP’s garden and chook kingdom is an impenetrable fortress of ‘nope - access denied’. Fences, steel enforced base and three live wires of ‘nice try, but forget it’ to persuade visitors to take full advantage of the 68 acres of forest they live in and leave the shiny new stuff to us upright apes.

But alas. There are incursions. My fault, installing a new gate and the force field was disengaged. Someone that has evolved to evade fortresses walls has infiltrated and is munching away on my new spinach and coriander, making their own winter salad.

Enter the new iron dome of ‘if you search on Google, we will remind you on Facebook and suggest you buy it’, laser and frequency warfare device of last warning deployed.

I’m looking for a way to connect a speaker so that this song plays each time they consider coming close….and maybe a disco ball for the laser.
