There’s something very special about seeing our gorgeous girl through someone else’s eyes.

From her remarkable history as Sir Donald Bradman’s childhood home to the love and care that has gone into bringing her back to life, No. 52 is so much more than a place to stay.

She’s a little piece of Australian history, filled with character, charm and a few unexpected surprises along the way.

Sir Donald Bradman pads up in 1940 🏏

A man of many sporting talents, Sir Don was certainly no one-trick pony!

While cricket was undoubtedly his greatest claim to fame, he was also an accomplished tennis player, golfer, squash player and billiards enthusiast.

His extraordinary hand-eye coordination and natural sporting ability extended well beyond the cricket pitch.

But it was with a bat in his hands that he made history, becoming one of the greatest sporting legends Australia has ever known.

And to think, it all began with a young boy, a cricket stump, a golf ball and a water tank in the backyard of what is now No. 52 Bowral 🤍

Today, you can walk through the very home where Sir Don spent his childhood, have a crack at our water tank challenge and then head up to the wonderful to discover so much more about the man, his sporting achievements and his extraordinary legacy.

And the best bit? Guests staying at No. 52 receive complimentary tickets to the Bradman Museum, making their Bowral stay a little piece of Australian sporting history 🤍

And that’s a wrap on our very first No. 52 Experience… and it was fabulous! 🩷

We started with a tour of the house, sharing a little of its history and some of the stories tucked within its walls.

Then it was time to sit down to a beautiful High Tea, with a little help from the gorgeous YVO Tea Salon Bowral 🫖🥂

Of course, no No. 52 Experience would be complete without having a crack at the famous water tank challenge. The high score? A very respectable 2 😂 The number of laughs? About a million.

And to finish the morning, we headed up to Bradman Museum, Bowral to continue the Bradman story and explore even more of Bowral’s wonderful cricket history.

What an awesome morning - beautiful food, fascinating history, a little friendly competition and lots and lots of laughter.

Our very first No. 52 Experience ✔️ … and we absolutely loved it 🩷

No cricket required… 🏏😉

You don’t need to know your googly from your silly mid-on to stay at No. 52 Bowral.

Yes, she’s the childhood home of Sir Donald Bradman.

Yes, there are whispers of cricket throughout.

And yes, if you’re a cricket tragic, you’re going to be in heaven.

But No. 52 is also for the not-so-cricket-tragics amongst us 🤍

👑 A King, a cricketer… and a duck 🏏🦆

Did you know Sir Donald Bradman once dined with King George VI at Buckingham Palace?

During Australia’s famous 1948 tour of England, Bradman was invited to dine with the King, who reportedly told him:

“I hope you get a hundred at The Oval.”

Unfortunately, cricket had other plans…

In his final Test innings, Bradman needed just four runs to finish his Test career with the seemingly impossible batting average of exactly 100.

Instead, he was bowled for a duck 🦆

His final average?

99.94.

A number that would become one of the most famous in sporting history.

It’s quite extraordinary to think that the little boy who practised for hours with a cricket stump and golf ball against a water tank in Bowral would grow up to captain Australia, dine with a King and become one of the greatest sportsmen the world has ever known 👑🏏

And there is so much more to his remarkable story.

Did you know that good dogs under 15kg are welcome at No. 52 Bowral? 🐾

Now… not the big kids at the back 😂 They’d cause quite the stir wandering through the front door.

But small to medium-sized, well-behaved dogs are very welcome to join you for your stay - because holidays are always better when your best mate comes too 🐶

Dog stays are on application, with dogs under 15kg considered.

Because at No. 52, we know sometimes the four-legged members of the family deserve a little Bowral getaway to 🩷
