Velya constantly upskilling herself by visiting several worldwide design exhibitions, trade shows and training sessions. For example, Salone del Mobile in Milan, the International Exhibition of Components, Semifinished Products and Accessories for the Furniture Industry (Sicam) in Pordenone, the world’s leading trade fair for furniture production and interior design (INTERZUM) in Cologne, the Kitchen & Bath Industry (KBIS) design event in Las Vegas, the Society of British & International Interior Design (SBID) event in London, and various tradeshows in New Zealand and Australia, including the Auckland and Brisbane Home Shows, as well as industry product launches and educational seminars. Velya is a member of the National Kitchen and Bathrooms Association (NKBA). Being a part of an organisation like this means her network of products and industry knowledge is kept at the highest level. Velya has been within the design industry for many years working in various countries worldwide, such as Central Asia, Eastern Europe, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia. Velya has extensive experience working with various Italian companies, kitchens, furniture, and dining accessories suppliers. Velya holds a Diploma in Kitchen and Bathroom Design from the National Kitchen and Bathroom Association (NKBA). She has also completed her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Auckland. Velya’s creativity has been recognised throughout her career, her being published in Kitchens and Bathrooms Quarterly Magazine (KBQ), STUFF and 2023, 2024 NKBA Excellence in Design Publications. As of early 2024, STUFF is the most popular news website in New Zealand, with a monthly audience of over 2 million. One of her recent projects has been shortlisted and became the finalist among the other top 25 selected worldwide for the Society of British and International Interior Design Award (SBID). The SBID International Design Awards has firmly established itself as one of the most prestigious interior design Awards in the global design calendar.
