January is officially over for 2026 and it’s been such a fantastic start to the year. We’ve styled over 120 rooms, booked three holidays, celebrated birthdays, farewelled friends, quoted lots of new homes for February, sold a house, enjoyed a great balance of work and living, swam, hosted dinners, exercised much more regularly, had 4am work starts, worked through a heatwave and learnt how to make focaccia. We love styling and we love living and celebrating family, friends and connections we make with new sellers on their journeys, some happy some sad. We hope your January was also filled with many good days and your February is lining up to be a fabulous month.

Hello, I’m Mel, founder of Limelight Interiors, mum of Eliza 16, and Ethan 19 and a property renovator in my spare time. Limelight Interiors came about 16 years ago when my husband and I were renovating and selling homes and our Agent at the time suggested we hire an outdoor umbrella for our sale campaign, “because that’s something they do in Sydney”. I realised I was actually Styling our own homes for each sale, so why not Style for others. This was before Styling was even a thing in Brisbane and there was only one Company in Brisbane where you could hire furniture. After a few years grinding away and getting my business off the ground I decided it was far more beneficial to purchase our own stock. So a warehouse lease was signed and we have never looked back. I have chosen not to scale my business, I am lucky enough to have my Husband, Son and Niece all working with me and we personally oversee every quote and installation which means our jobs run like clockwork and I have plenty of time for the other things I love. When I’m not Styling a home you will find me elbow deep in paint,
working on a new renovation, managing our Airbnb, planning a holiday, trying out another new recipe I’ve seen on TikTok or going to French classes. Hopefully we will also enjoy a few more weekends away this year in our vintage 1970’s caravan, Daisy. The year is off to a flying start and we have so much to look forward to and I’m excited to assist many more families achieve the best possible price for their homes 🏠
