Huge news coming out of Brisbane City Council today.
Amendment v17.00/2019 came into effect (29 November 2019).
This most significantly includes biodiversity mapping changes and an increase to car parking rates for multiple dwellings.
Increase to car parking rates are substantial e.g. previously 1.25 spaces per 2 bed and 1.5 spaces per 3+ bed, now changed to 2 spaces per 2/3 bed and 2.5 spaces per 4+ bed
For the most part the groups I have spoken to within the industry (includes consultants, developers, and industry bodies) are completely against this change. Not to mention the inevitable increase of price to completed stock for consumers due to passed on cost from developers. Pretty simple, a 2 bed unit with 2 cars is going to cost more than a 2 bed unit with 1 car space.
To see this new "World City" implement policies that are inconsistent with best practice on the world stage is quite frankly embarrassing..
In any case, if you'd like to know how these changes affect your property/project, feel free to get in touch.
