Your dream home probably doesn’t look like you think it does.

When I ask clients what they want their home to feel like, very rarely do they start talking about furniture.

Instead, they tell me things like:
• I want to feel calmer.
• I want less chaos.
• I want a space we actually use together.
• I want to feel proud when people come over.
• I want it to feel like us.

But somewhere along the way, we convince ourselves the answer is a new sofa, a different paint colour, or another Pinterest board.

The truth?

Most people aren’t chasing a particular look.
They’re chasing a feeling. Less stress. More connection. More calm. More confidence.
The styling, furniture and finishes are simply the tools that help create that feeling.

That’s why every project I work on starts with understanding how you want to live in your home—not just how you want it to look.

Because the most beautiful homes aren’t the ones that follow every trend. They’re the ones that support the people living in them.

Every property tells a different story, and for this Auchenflower apartment, the goal was to create a space that felt warm, modern and effortlessly liveable.

With a neutral palette, layered textures and thoughtful furniture placement, we transformed these rooms into spaces buyers could instantly connect with. From relaxed mornings in the light-filled living area to peaceful evenings in the bedroom, every styling decision was designed to help buyers imagine themselves at home.

Property styling isn’t about filling a space with furniture.

It’s about showcasing potential, creating emotion and helping buyers see how life could look within those walls.

When buyers can see themselves living there, the conversation shifts from looking at a property to wanting a home.

What do you think buyers would notice first when they walk through the door?

I don’t think people hire me for styling. They think they do.

But what they’re really paying for is:
• clarity when they’re drowning in options
• confidence when they’re scared of making expensive mistakes
• a plan when they don’t know where to start
• reassurance when every decision feels overwhelming
• someone to make the process easier

Because creating a home isn’t usually about finding the perfect cushion. It’s about knowing what works. What fits your lifestyle. What suits your home. What feels like you.

The mood boards, furniture, colours and styling are important. But they’re the outcome.

The real transformation happens when you stop second-guessing every decision and start moving forward with confidence.

That’s what I love helping my clients do.
Creating homes that feel beautiful, practical and completely personal - without the overwhelm.

A question I ask every client.

How do you want to feel when you walk through your front door?

Not what colour sofa you want.
Not what style is trending.
Not what you’ve saved on Pinterest.

How do you want your home to feel?

Calm?
Welcoming?
Organised?
Comfortable?
Inspired?

Because that answer tells me far more than any Pinterest board ever could.

A beautiful home isn’t created by copying someone else’s space.

It’s created by understanding the people who live there, how they spend their time, what matters to them, and how they want their home to support their everyday life.

That’s why every project starts with questions.

The feeling comes first.

The furniture, colours, layouts and styling decisions follow.

Because when your home feels right, everything else falls into place.

What’s one word you want your home to feel when you walk through the door?

Buying furniture before creating a plan. Not because the furniture is wrong. But because it’s often right for someone else’s home.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve walked into a home and found:

• a rug that’s too small for the space
• a sofa that overwhelms the room (or disappears in it)
• artwork that doesn’t feel connected
• pieces bought separately that never quite work together

And before long, you’re spending more money trying to fix decisions that felt right at the time.

The reality is, creating a beautiful home isn’t about buying more.

It’s about having a vision.

Knowing how you want your home to feel.

Understanding how you live in it.

Choosing pieces that work together, not just pieces you love individually.

This is why I am such a big believer in mood boards, floor plans and taking a step back before making purchases.

A little planning can save thousands of dollars, countless returns, and that frustrating feeling that something still isn’t quite right.

The homes that feel effortless rarely happen by accident.

They’re created with intention.

Beautiful homes aren’t built one purchase at a time. They’re built from a clear vision that guides every decision.

Pinterest is making your home worse.

Big call. But hear me out.

Pinterest is brilliant for inspiration. Terrible for decision-making.

Because now you’re trying to combine:

• a coastal kitchen
• a modern lounge room
• a Hamptons bedroom
• a European bathroom

All from completely different homes, with different layouts, lighting, budgets and lifestyles.

No wonder you’re feeling overwhelmed.

The secret isn’t collecting more ideas.

It’s creating a vision.

A vision that works for your home.

One that considers how you live, what you already own, what needs to stay, what needs to go, and how each space connects to the next.

Because the homes that feel the most beautiful aren’t usually the ones with the most ideas.

They’re the ones where every decision feels intentional.

Pinterest should inspire the direction. Not dictate the destination.

That’s why I always start with a look-and-feel mood board before making a single styling recommendation. It creates clarity, confidence and a roadmap for every decision that follows.

Save this if your Pinterest boards are currently causing more confusion than inspiration. 🤍

The #1 tip that helped me with styling homes.

Stop trying to make every room the “hero.”

Your home should flow as a whole.

When every room competes:

* colours clash
* styling feels chaotic
* nothing feels cohesive

Consistency creates calm.

That’s why I always design homes with the bigger picture in mind.

Selections are only one piece of the puzzle.

You also need:

💡flow
💡proportion
💡functionality
💡cohesion
💡practical thinking
💡understanding how it all works together

Pretty finishes alone don’t create a beautiful home.

The magic is in how everything connects.
