Everyone loves a before and after. But what about everything in between?

A quick swipe and suddenly a room looks completely different. It can make a transformation seem a little too easy!

Neutral… with The Ginger Stylist touch 🤍

Introducing our latest Everton Park property styling project, and possibly my most neutral style yet!

What I love most is the lightness. Soft creams, layered textures and a mix of oak and walnut bring warmth and depth, while touches of blue add that little pop of colour I couldn’t resist.

The mixed timbers are a favourite for me. That lighter dining table with the richer walnut chairs adds so much character. A reminder that everything doesn’t have to match to feel beautifully connected.

From the living spaces to the bedrooms and out onto the deck, there’s a calm, easy flow that makes it feel welcoming.

For me, property styling is about helping buyers imagine life here. Somewhere to unwind, gather around the table or enjoy a quiet cuppa outside.

A soft, neutral palette with warmth, personality and a little Ginger touch.

You liked it in the shop. You liked it online.

But at home? It’s just not working.

So you try something else. Another cushion. A different lamp. Maybe a new rug will finally bring it together?

It’s a frustrating cycle — especially when you’re trying to be careful with your money.

Sometimes the missing piece is a plan.

Before buying anything else, look at what’s staying, how the furniture fits and how you want the room to feel. Then you can work out what’s actually missing.

You might need a different furniture arrangement. A larger rug. A colour repeated elsewhere in the room. Or a little less going on.

If you’re stuck in the “maybe this will fix it” stage, that’s something I can help you work through.

Can we bring styling back to basics for a minute?

Because a scroll through Instagram can make having a beautiful home feel like a very expensive, full-time job.

There’s always another trend. Another room reveal. Another “must-have” that suddenly makes you question the perfectly good things you already own.

I love a beautifully styled space. But the foundations of a home that feels good to live in are pretty simple:

• Good foundation pieces that can grow and change with you.
• A layout that works with how you actually live.
• Things that bring you joy, make you smile and make you think, “Yep, this feels like me.”

Before you roll your eyes at me… I KNOW.

Simple to say. Much harder when you’re standing in your living room wondering why nothing feels quite right.

You might love the sofa, but it never seems to fit.
You’ve bought cushions, but the room still feels unfinished.
You’ve saved 200 images, but you’re no closer to knowing what you want.

And somewhere between work, school pick-ups, washing and deciding what’s for dinner, figuring it all out gets pushed down the list.

Knowing what works, finding the right pieces and bringing them together is no small feat.

But it doesn’t have to mean starting again.

Sometimes it’s moving the furniture so you can walk through the room comfortably. Finding a side table so there’s somewhere to put your cup of tea. Keeping the artwork you love and choosing colours that help it feel at home.

Sometimes the most useful question is:
“What would make this room work better for us?”

That gives you somewhere to start. A purpose for the changes you make. And a reason to leave some things exactly as they are.

This is what I help people work through: what to keep, what to move, what’s missing and how to bring it together.

The basics deserve some thought. Get them working for you, and your home has room for all the lovely, messy, changing parts of real life.

Apologising for your home when someone walks through the door. You don’t need to point out everything you want to change before they’ve put their bag down.

Buying another cushion and hoping it fixes the room. Sometimes you need help working out what’s missing before you spend more money.

Keeping furniture that makes everyday life harder because “that’s where it’s always been”.
