Real Estate agents in 2026 we will have to become Money laundering police, and Counter Terrorist Finance police and report our sellers and buyers to AUSTRAC (i did not even know what AUSTRAC was till I googled it) what are your thoughts should we let this happen or shall we ask our Industry body to challenge it on our behalf, instead of training us on how to be compliant.Since when are we qualified as Money laundering agents, and do due diligence on our buyers and sellers. Let me know your thoughts.

Calling all QLD Real Estate Agents — I need your opinion.

The new AML/CTF laws coming in 2026 are about to dump a whole new pile of responsibilities onto agents — including monitoring buyers and sellers for suspicious activity and reporting to AUSTRAC.

I’m sorry, but since when did real estate agents become financial investigators or counter-terrorism officers?

We’re already overloaded with compliance as it is, and now we’re expected to do the government’s job for them — AND pay for the training.

I want to know what the rest of the industry thinks:

🔥 Is this acceptable?
🔥 Are we supposed to just take this sitting down?
🔥 Should the REIQ be pushing back harder?
🔥 Would agents support a challenge to these requirements?
