From Bill the Developer of Parklands Grange;
As of the end of September, we will no longer be mowing and maintaining common areas at Parklands Grange. After 8 years of providing this free and extra service for our fantastic residents, we now believe it is up to Council to mow the parks and paths; and residents to mow and wiper-snip the footpaths outside their blocks. We really appreciate that many residents are already maintaining their footpaths and we thank them for taking that responsibility (which incidentally nearly all residential and rural-residential residents do throughout the Bundaberg Regional Council area anyway!).
We will be contacting Council and asking them to increase their, currently minimal, mowing events. However all Councils are more reactive to requests/ complaints from rate-payers than listening to developers. We recommend that all residents download the free App, SNAP SEND SOLVE, from the App Store. So when there is dumped rubbish, for example, anyone can quickly and easily use their smart phones to photograph and upload the problem. Council encourages the use of this App and it is by far the most efficient and easy way to deal with issues.
We have largely been able to get on top of the hoon issue. As more homes get built, we have more caring residents complaining which is a good thing. The best way to deal with that we have found is to ring Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or go online. They will issue you with a reference number. When the Police get enough complaints, they then patrol more regularly. Unless an event is life-threatening, calling the local Police Station is normally not productive. They will tell you that they are busy with more urgent matters (which is probably true!).
As an aside, we are proud of you and proud of what we (as in you and us, as developer) have created at Parklands Grange. We think that we were the 1st in Queensland to build 4m wide Asphalt driveways right to property boundaries (even owners of resident blocks in town build their own driveways from the gutter to their boundaries).
We were also probably the 1st half acre type blocks to have FTTP (Fibre-to-the-premises) NBN in the whole of Queensland. Most of Australia and most of Bundaberg has FTTN (Fibre-to-the-Node) and copper to the actual home (AKA slow and unreliable!).
The Ian Ross Studholme (RIP) Path and remnant forest worries us a little. That area of emergent forest will always be at risk of someone wanting to destroy it. It is special and these areas of regrowth forest are becoming increasingly rare and more valuable. Please keep an eye on it, use those paths and we would love residents to help ensure that there is pressure to preserve it. Council owns it. We handed it over to Council for nothing with an expectation that it would remain. We can’t do any more than what we have done but you live there and have that opportunity to care. The park with play equipment and exercise equipment is the start of things to come we hope. We provided all that for free but future infrastructure in there will now need to be driven by residents and the Council.
In closing, as we move onto developing the other fantastic estate in the region, Bargara Headlands Estate, thank you to all our new and old residents. Congratulations on helping make it one of the best in the district and stay happy.
