***Wednesday Club are back***
And what a great place to reunite at the famous Mamma’s Italian 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
For those of you that aren’t aware, Mamma’s has now re-opened last week after closing its doors for over 2 years!
Most locals will know that Mamma’s has been an iconic restaurant in Redcliffe for over 35 years and we are glad to see the doors open again!
We did our first review at Mamma’s back in February 2016 and it’s safe to say the food is still as great as it was.
Looking back at the ratings the boys gave last time it was going to be hard to top with an overall score of 8.5/10 back in 2016, it might be because the doors have just re-opened and it’s a whole new setup that our scores this time were slightly lower.
The boys at the Wednesday Club don’t just review the food, we review our overall experience at each venue, the food at Mamma’s will always be amazing and once they get everything in order they will surely be back to their best!
The boys reviews for Mammas are below:

Damn it’s good to be back! When the men recently told me they were keen on resurrecting the Wednesday Club, I was excited about the prospect of getting the gang back together. What better way to start off, than by visiting the iconic Mammas restaurant to get us back into the swing of things. The original Mammas restaurant closed its doors a few years ago and the local community had been rallying to get them back ever since, talk about power of the people. I hope the community can use that same power to get blockbuster video back as my Friday nights haven’t been the same since it left. Anyway, where was I, oh yeh Mammas. The place was buzzing! As I walked in the door I couldn’t help but notice the the extravagance. Gold cutlery, I don’t think I’d ever heard of gold cutlery, let alone seen or eaten with it. I still don’t know if there is a dress code but I sure felt underdressed. The design and fit out is superb and you can tell that some real $$ have been spent. The service was best described as Clunky. I wasn’t surprised as the place has barely been open for a week and I can only imagine the teething problems that would come with opening a new restaurant. The food was great, I had the Veal, which I was repeatedly told by the boys is a baby cow 🐮. No room for dessert this time around...

What a great feeling getting the boys back together to do what we do best and that’s have a few beers / bottles of wine and talk s**t. But in the background we are keeping a keen eye and mouth on judging the venue. Being the senior patched member of the club, walking into a venue and knowing it was Wednesday night was like riding a bike....you never forget how to do your job. For me a switch flicks and the sleeping food critic in me awakens.
I walk into Mammas last night just like every other Wednesday night starting at a score of 10. They quickly dropped half a point as our table wasn’t ready at the time we booked for. I hate waiting. After 15min we were seated. They have done a wonderful job on the decor but a little crampy if that’s a word. Very clean and beautiful place and the atmosphere was alive with plenty of people. They dropped another point as the time it took them to bring menus and water was a little long given that we had to wait to be seated.
I ordered the lemon chicken. I always judge time on how many drinks it takes before I get my meal. I beer / wine then meal is at your table is ideal. I had two wines and was starving. The boys received their meals and I was still waiting for mine. Must have had trouble catching the chicken out back. My meal final arrived and they did say sorry for the wait and gave me a free side of salad. Another point down for the wait.
I’ve forgotten how many points I’m up to because iv has a few wines now. But any way, you can tell the wait staff are very green and will get better with experience. The food was great can’t complain about the quality. If they can get their timing better it will be a top restaurant.

Was excited to get the ball rolling again with the fellas, timing was uncanny with the re launch of an old Redcliffe favourite Mammas, re opening in a new location. The new restaurant looks great only thing I will say is the LED down lighting was a bit full on, ambient lighting would suit the mood a little better in my opinion. Food was always great at mammas and to be honest has not changed a bit, for me that’s a good thing, garlic bread was a nice starter with a glass of red, had the classic hearty lasagne for main. I wasn’t overly hungry, however the flavour kept me coming back and before I knew it I had finished the dish. Food took a while however and there are a creases that need ironing, it was like a premier league team playing an away game mid week in the cup, same core of the team a few new faces all getting used to new surroundings. Things take time and with the experience of the owners and management I’m sure they will have it running top top in no time!

The other boys have hit the nail on the head, the new location is amazing and the fit out made me feel like I was in Italia. I never like to be negative but I think once their team has worked togethe for a few more weeks they will improve. Small stuff like no water offered for 10-15 mins and asking if you would like cheese when you have nearly finished your meal. My meal was very Nice and the wine was even better! Everybody that works their is very friendly and try hard to make your evening special and with a few little improvements they will be contesting for #1 Italian in Redcliffe I think!
***Overall Rating 7/10*** we will round up 👍
Thanks to everyone that has liked, commented and sent messages through, we will be back in 2 weeks and would love some venue requests from you guys!
passa un buon fine settimana 👌
