Itās funny how life can change your perspective on what really matters.
For years, weāve been so caught up in the day-to-day grind, work, responsibilities, building a life, and always having something else to do. Holidays were something weād get around to eventually.
But after the year weāve had, I think something in me has shifted.
I donāt want to keep saying āone dayā. I want the holidays, the memories, the adventures, the late nights, the pool days, the family dinners and the moments where weāre all together without a million other things competing for our attention.
This trip has made me realise just how much I want more of that. More time with my kids. More experiences. More living. Less worrying about the things that, when you really strip it all back, donāt matter nearly as much as we think they do.
Having Steve and Tom not here with us has made that feeling even stronger. As beautiful as it is to make memories with the kids who are here, thereās a piece of our family missing. And it reminds you that the best part of any holiday isnāt the destination, the resort or how much money you spend. Itās having your people there to share it with.
Life gets messy. Families go through things. Plans change, people struggle, and sometimes the last year throws more at you than you ever expected to deal with.
But if this year has taught me anything, itās that time is precious, our kids are growing up far too quickly, and we spend so much of our lives working towards a future that we sometimes forget to enjoy the present.
So maybe this is my reminder to myself to stop putting life on hold until everything is perfect.
I want to see more of the world with my family. I want to make memories while the kids still want to travel with us. I want to look back one day and know we lived, laughed, explored and made the most of the time we had together.
Because at the end of the day, the house, the business, the money and all the other stuff will never mean as much as the people sitting around the table with you.
And right now, all I want is more time with mine. š¤āļø
