Opening night of the Bangalow Film Festival is here and it looks like it's going to be a great start to this year's event!

Tonight's screening of Whistle has already sold out, which is a pretty good sign of what's to come over the next 10 days.

One of the things I love about in Byron is the incredible mix of arts, culture and community events we have on our doorstep, and the Bangalow Film Festival is always a highlight on the local calendar.

There are still plenty of films, special screenings and events to enjoy between now and 21 June, so if you've been thinking about going, now's a good time to have a look at the program and book your tickets.

Thinking of those who’ve served, those who didn't come home, those who continue to serve, and grateful for the peace and sense of community we have here in Byron.

If you’re planning to take part, here are the details of what's happening:

5.30 am – 6.00 am - Dawn service at the Memorial Gates
From 6.00 am - Breakfast at the Byron Bay Services Club
10.30 am - March starting at Bay Street, Apex Park
10.50 am – 11.40 am - Main service at the Memorial Gates

Tennyson & Marvell Street will be closed between 4.30 am and 5.30 am and again at 10.45 am for the march.

There was something special about Byron over Easter. The town was buzzing – packed streets, full venues, live music all over town.

Hearing The Wailers went off at the Hotel Brunswick pretty much says it all. It just felt like Byron doing what Byron does best – coming together when it matters. Great to see the town so full and everyone busy.

Hope we see more of the same next year!
