Thrilled to bring this great brand to the ACT

Sotheby's International Realty just planted a flag in Canberra – its first office in the nation's capital.

Director Alexander Smout is leading the new affiliate, bringing the 1744-heritage brand's global network – spanning 80+ countries – to a market he says has been quietly building its reputation for years.

"Canberra has evolved into one of Australia's most sophisticated property markets," Alexander said. "The city continues to attract professionals, diplomats, business leaders, investors and families seeking an exceptional lifestyle."

The office will cover residential sales, prestige property marketing and property management across Canberra and surrounding regions.

It's an interesting signal – a globally recognised luxury brand choosing Canberra as its next expansion city says something about where the prestige market is heading beyond Sydney and Melbourne.

Which Australian markets do you think are most underestimated in the prestige space right now?
