$57,000 raised. Five years of giving back. And one event that keeps getting bigger.

Kate recently caught up with Perko from ABC Tropical North to talk about the Whitsunday Lions Charity Golf Day and what this event has grown to mean for our local community.

What started as a fundraiser in 2022 has now raised $57,000 for local causes, with this year’s event bringing together 130 golfers, 33 teams, more than 20 sponsors and 21 volunteers. This year alone, the day helped deliver $12,000 to Proserpine Hospital through the District Auxiliary.

But the numbers are only part of the story.

For us, this day is about what can happen when local people, businesses and community groups come together, have a bit of fun and get behind something that genuinely makes a difference.

If you were driving past this week and noticed a little extra colour on the course, you weren’t dreaming.

On Wednesday, we welcomed the Coral Sea Marina Resort Platinum Crew Club for a round at Whitsunday Green.

The Platinum Crew Club brings visiting superyacht crew together to experience more of the Whitsundays, connect with each other and enjoy some well-earned time off — and we were very happy to be part of it.

Thanks for joining us for a hit. We hope there were a few good shots amongst the colourful ones.

One of the biggest mistakes we see?

Trying to absolutely FLOG the ball.

Golf isn’t baseball.

Instead of trying to hit the ball as hard and fast as you can, think about your swing — using your body, rotation and rhythm to create the movement.

Because the harder you try to smash it, the easier it is to lose your timing.

Smooth swing. Good rotation. Let the club do the work.

This is what community in action looks like.

We’re incredibly proud to play our part in the annual Whitsunday Lions Charity Golf Day and to see the fun had out on the course translate into something that makes a real difference locally.

This year, $12,000 was donated to the Proserpine Hospital Auxiliary, with $11,500 raised through the Charity Golf Day and a further $500 contributed by Whitsunday Lions. The funds will help purchase specialised ‘Tweegy’ wheelchairs for use across the hospital.

Even more special is what has been achieved over time. Since the event began in 2022, $57,000 has now been raised for local causes — an effort made possible by the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, Whitsunday Lions and wider community who continue to get behind it year after year.

A very proud moment for everyone involved, and one we hope to build on for many years to come.

Good golf. Great people. An even better cause.

Something is growing at Whitsunday Green.

If you’ve known us for golf, you’ll know the relaxed rounds, familiar faces and easy-going club atmosphere that make this place what it is.

We’re keeping all of that.

But the bigger vision for Whitsunday Green has always been about more.

More places to connect.
More reasons to spend time here.
More golf.
More community.
And a place where the Whitsunday lifestyle can become part of everyday life.

Over the coming months, we’re going to start sharing more of what’s ahead.

And we think you’re going to like where we’re going.

CALLING LOCAL COUPLES, FAMILIES, FRIENDS & INDIVIDUALS

We’re looking for some local faces to join us for a photoshoot at Whitsunday Green next Wednesday and Thursday.

We’ll be capturing everything that makes Whitsunday Green what it is — relaxed Whitsunday living, golf, good food, time outdoors and people enjoying the space together.

You don’t need any modelling experience. We’re simply looking for a great mix of locals — individuals, couples, families and groups of friends — who feel comfortable getting involved and having a bit of fun in front of the camera.

We’re incredibly proud to play a part in a fundraiser that shows just what our Whitsunday community can achieve when we come together.

Over the past five years, the Whitsunday Lions Charity Golf Day at Whitsunday Green has helped raise an incredible $57,000 for local causes — including this year’s support for Proserpine Hospital.

For us, this event is about so much more than a day of golf. It’s about bringing people together, having a great time and using what we have here at Whitsunday Green to help make a genuine difference in the community we’re proud to call home.

A huge thank you to Whitsunday Lions and every sponsor, volunteer, golfer and supporter who continues to get behind the day. We’re very proud to stand alongside you and look forward to seeing what we can achieve together in the years ahead.
