Have your say on short-term accommodation in the Whitsundays!

We’re proposing changes to the Whitsunday Planning Scheme 2017 to help better manage short-term accommodation, such as Airbnbs, within the Low Density Residential zone.

The aim is to find the right balance between supporting tourism and protecting residential amenity and housing supply for locals.

Council is proposing to identify 10 precincts where short-term accommodation may be supported in the Low Density Residential zone. In all other areas zoned Low Density Residential, short-term accommodation would no longer be supported.

You can now:
• View the proposed precinct maps and supporting information
• Read an excerpt of the draft amendment
• Make a properly made submission before Sunday 20 July 2025
