Is Winter a Good Time to Sell?

While spring is often seen as the peak selling season, winter can offer unique advantages for motivated vendors. With fewer properties on the market, your home has a greater opportunity to stand out and capture buyer attention.

The cooler months also tend to attract serious, committed buyers who are actively searching and ready to make decisions. Less competition, more focused interest, and the potential for stronger buyer engagement can make winter a surprisingly strategic time to sell.

If you're considering making a move, winter could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Tips for tackling a winter garden.

Winter may feel like a quieter season in the garden, but with the right care, it’s the perfect time to prepare for healthy spring growth while maintaining the presentation of your outdoor spaces.

Simple seasonal tasks like pruning, mulching, fertilising and tidying can improve plant health, reduce future issues and instantly refresh the look and feel of your home. From pressure washing paths to adding hardy winter herbs and potted plants, thoughtful updates can make gardens feel warm, layered and inviting, even in the cooler months.

If you’re considering selling, a well-maintained winter garden can also create a stronger first impression and help buyers emotionally connect with your property.

Australia’s property market is set for significant change following the 2026 Federal Budget announcement. From July 2027, negative gearing benefits will largely be limited to newly built homes, while changes to capital gains tax will introduce a new inflation-indexed model for future investments. Combined with a new $2 billion infrastructure fund supporting the delivery of around 65,000 homes nationwide, the reforms are expected to encourage investment in new housing developments and increase long-term focus on the value and performance of established properties.

The Budget also extends the ban on foreign investors purchasing established homes until 2029, alongside continued funding for affordable housing projects. For buyers and sellers, the changes signal a shift in Australia’s evolving property landscape, with quality, well-located homes expected to remain in strong demand.

A guide to Australian architectural style.

From the enduring elegance of Victorian architecture and Edwardian architecture homes to the warmth of Federation architecture and the breezy charm of the Queenslander architecture, Australia’s architecture tells a rich story of lifestyle and place. Ornate detailing, high ceilings and handcrafted features continue to draw buyers in, but so does the need for space, light and functionality.

Increasingly, it’s homes that successfully blend heritage character with modern design that stand out, offering the best of both worlds: timeless street appeal with open, liveable interiors designed for today.
