Gia contacted me whilst I was on a snowboarding trip in Niseko Japan with some mates. Lovely to chat and here’s the outcome.

Taking my call from Niseko in Japan, where he had been snowboarding since 8 am, sips a negroni with a cheeky grin on his face as if he had just won the world. Retiring in 2022 after selling his business for a multi-million dollar payout (he’s too humble to disclose) gives you a hint of the success he has achieved in his career with over 1,000 multi-million dollar homes sold alongside being awarded REIWA’s Master Salesperson multiple times.

In the high stakes of selling luxury real estate, what impressed me most about Simon wasn’t his success but rather his courage to reinvent and create a magnificent life. At 63 years old, his third act has only just begun. He now enjoys an active lifestyle including throwing himself off mountains, surfing, and riding vintage motorcycles. A devoted family man to Maryellen and their two children, Simon’s next pedigree includes a brewing radio career, where he can put his articulate tone to great use.

Probing for the secret elixir to his great sales artistry, here are some points of brilliance I discovered:

1. BEING WEALTHY DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO BEHAVE POORLY. While we all strive for financial success, Simon credits empathy and integrity for his outcomes.

2. NOTHING SUBSTITUTES A PHONE CALL. Not even social media so get over your fears and start making those connections. The secret is to always be of value and ask for permission when your prospect answers their phone.

3. RESPECT MONEY - Be frugal but not stingy.

4. CHOOSE A GREAT LIFE PARTNER. Speaking about his wife Maryellen, he credits her unconditional support for his stratospheric success. His admiration and warmth towards his wife are palpable.
