"Live the Life you deserve at a price you can afford" at the Lady Clark Centre Inc Retirement Village in Claremont. Our Village offers retirees a range of 1- and 2-bedroom units designed to provide secure, safe, and affordable living options now and in the future. We are nestled within 6+ acres of private natural parkland and gardens, and our Village is conveniently located in Claremont, with easy

access and walking distance to services at Claremont Plaza and just a short drive to the city of Hobart, our central location offers both convenience and tranquility. Since 1968 Lady Clark has established a rich and respected legacy as a not-for-profit provider of unit accommodation services for retirees. Our steadfast dedication to this mission remains unwavering today and is evident in our responsible management. Proceeds from our village income are directed towards and contribute to the sustainability, viability and future improvements of our retirement village.

1. Private Units:** We allocate funds to ensure that each of our units is maintained and kept in good condition. Preventative and regular maintenance is conducted to ensure that living is comfortable for our Residents.

2. Renovations of Vacated Units:** Our Residents enjoy an incredibly long tenure, so when a unit becomes vacant, we invest in renovating and updating the unit to meet the needs and preferences of new incoming residents. This ensures that all units are in optimal condition for our new village residents to enjoy.

3. Infrastructure:** Our commitment extends beyond individual units and community building. We are responsible to allocate funds for the maintenance, servicing and programmed replacement and upgrades of the village infrastructure in entirety, this includes village common areas, our private roads, pathways, and other essential inground infrastructure.

4. Long-Term Housing Security:** Our mission remains unchanged, Lady Clark Centre Inc. continues to provide long-term housing security for retirees who rely on a commonwealth pension. Our fee structure:

Entry Fee: Our ingoing entry fee is designed to be accessible and reasonable, allowing pensioner retirees to transition smoothly into our Village community. This fee covers securing your unit, unit renovation & remodeling to standard, access to amenities, and contributing to the overall infrastructure and sustainability of the Village. The exact fee varies depending on the unit type and includes a bond which is refundable on departure. Rent: We also offer affordable fortnightly rent payment. These payments are structured to be manageable for retirees on a commonwealth pension, and cover services and amenities designed to make your retirement worry-free. These services include all village and preventative and emergency property maintenance, rates, water, insurances, public liability, building, all common gardens, grounds, roads, waste, administration, staffing, security, and amenities. Rent Assistance: For eligible retirees, the option to apply for rent assistance through Centrelink is available. This further helps to make your retirement living more affordable and aligned with your financial situation. Our Board and staff take pride in being a part of an organisation that is contributing to providing long term affordable and secure accommodation to pensioner retirees. We are unique in the market, a small standalone Tasmanian organisation that only serves our specialty of independent retirement living. To find out more please visit our website.

Today marks World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Elder Abuse can occur in many forms - the impact can be devastating, affecting a person’s health, wellbeing, financial security, independence and quality of life.

COTA Australia Chief Executive Officer Patricia Sparrow said elder abuse remains a significant and often hidden problem affecting older Australians across the country. “One in six older Australians experiences abuse, often at the hands of someone they know and trust,” Ms Sparrow said.

The Federal Government’s recently released National Plan to End the Abuse and Mistreatment of Older People, providing an important framework for addressing the issue.

“A national plan sets the direction, but real progress will depend on whether it is backed by concrete action, sustained investment and clear accountability,” she said.

As an older person receiving government-funded aged care – either in your own home or in an aged care home – you have rights. The Statement of Rights, which is included in the Act, gives you the right to speak up, to be treated with respect, and to make choices about your aged care. Providers and aged care workers are legally obliged to deliver services in line with these rights.

Enshrined in the Statement of Rights is your right to Autonomy and freedom of choice, but what does this mean?
You can make decisions about your life, care and support network. It also means that you have a right to be supported to make decisions, if you want it.

If you feel that your rights are not being upheld, contact the Aged Care Advocacy Line 1800 700 600

🎲🤝 Building Connections Across Generations 🤝🎲

What a wonderful afternoon of friendship, laughter, and friendly competition as residents from Lady Clark were visited by students from Windermere Primary School for a board games session!

From classic favourites to strategic challenges, the games provided more than just entertainment. They created opportunities for meaningful conversations, shared stories, and connections between generations. The room was filled with smiles as students and residents teamed up, learned from one another, and enjoyed spending time together.

These special community partnerships remind us of the value of bringing people together and the positive impact that intergenerational activities can have on everyone involved.

A big thank you to the students and Lauri from Windermere Primary School for helping create such a memorable day. We are so looking forward to many more opportunities to connect, learn, and have fun together!
