DISINFORMATION ⢠Continuing to speak out about the current state of local politics obviously isnāt pleasing those who conduct themselves poorly but it is time to raise the bar in the Redlands.
Rate payers, and I am one of them, deserve professionalism. I am standing because I hate paying the highest rates in SE Queensland to fund the current headline grabbing line-up.
For the record, I am building a team of people from a range of professional and political backgrounds - Reflective of our diverse community. There is no secret or hidden agenda. Just skilled, professional people who want to serve their community as part of a professional and supportive team.
Despite their differing political perspectives, they have made a commitment to represent our community and each other with respect. In our numerous discussions to date, we have successfully presented different views and come to resolutions in an amicable way. That is called āProfessionalismā.
Conversely, here are examples of some of the conduct that has been directed my way from other current councillors and cohort -
ā¢False Facebook posts and comments by 3 current councillors, an ex MP and an assortment of comments by associates, one who looks like intending to stand as a political candidate.
ā¢Negative phone calls to businesses.
ā¢Fake Facebook profiles attacking - One even tabled in parliament.
ā¢Mentions in council meetings.
ā¢A person has emailed The Courier Mail trying to initiate a negative story.
ā¢Facebook messages containing threats about an upcoming release of āmaterialā, telling me to stay away from councillors I have been photographed with.
This isnāt politics. This is behaviour designed to deter others from running, to discredit, intimidate, bully and harass.
We have to ask why these people are doing this. If someone is comfortable and confident with their own performance, they donāt need to go on unprovoked attacks.
Substandard behaviour, by a few, has been making our local area a laughing stock for years now. We have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Redlands deserves better.
ITāS TIME FOR CHANGE.
