Is your home SAFE?⚡️🏠
There are thousands of homes in Australia that do not conform to Australian Standard AS3000 wiring rules.
40% of house fires in NSW each year are caused by electrical faults and electrical appliances. These fires could have been prevented with safety switches.
Do you know the difference between safety switches and circuit breakers?⚡️⚡️👷🏻♂️
Circuit breakers protect the cable against over current, safety switches protect occupants of a building from electrocution. Newer styles of safety switches are combined with a circuit breaker which are known as RCBOs, protecting both the cable and occupants of a building.
Safety switches are also known as Residual Current Devices (RCDs).
Remember, safety switches can enhance safety but they do not remove the need to observe safe electrical practices and properly maintain equipment.
Fixed safety switches offer the best protection, but portable safety switches are also useful when working away from home.
If your home isn’t covered by safety switches or you are unsure if you have them installed, contact Coffs Harbour Inspections and our licenced electrician will attend site to inspect and provide recommendations
