🏊 Should you buy a property with a pool?
In my experience, around half of the buyers I speak with are specifically looking for a property with a pool or room for a pool.
And I understand why.
On a hot summer afternoon, there’s not much better than being able to step outside and jump straight into your own pool.
But before making a pool a non-negotiable, it’s worth looking at both sides.
The advantages:
☀️ A fantastic lifestyle feature - particularly on the Coffs Coast.
🏡 It can make a home more appealing to families and buyers who love outdoor living.
💦 It gives you somewhere to cool off, entertain and spend time together without leaving home.
🌴 In the right property, a pool can be a beautiful extension of the outdoor living space.
But there are some downsides:
💰 Pools cost money to maintain - cleaning, chemicals, equipment, repairs and electricity all add up.
🧹 They require ongoing attention. If you don't enjoy maintenance, that can become a chore. However, a pool maintenance company can accommodate.
🏊 They take up a significant amount of outdoor space, which may otherwise be used for gardens, entertaining or simply having more room to move.
⚠️ There are also safety, fencing and compliance considerations that need to be investigated when purchasing a property with a pool.
And perhaps the biggest question is:
Will you actually use it?
I’ve seen buyers become so focused on finding a pool that they compromise on other things that matter to their lifestyle, location and long-term plans.
A pool can be a wonderful asset.
But it shouldn't automatically make a property a better buy.
As a buyer’s agent, my job isn't to tell you whether you should have a pool.
It's to help you work out whether this particular property - pool and all - is the right property for you. 😉
If you’re considering buying in the region, I’d be happy to have a conversation about how I can help.
