Colac Log Cabin Scout Hall

Colac Log Cabin Scout Hall A local community icon that is available to hire for community groups, exercise classes, work functions and some family gatherings.

Built in 1935, the Log Cabin Scout Hall was home to the 1st Colac Scout Group before they closed in the mid 1990s. It was then used for the Otway Plains District Joey Scout, before both local Colac Scout Groups began their own mobs, and the meeting space for the Patanga Rover Crew. With Scouts Victoria closing the Otway Plains District in 2024, 2nd Colac Sea Scout Group have adopted the hall as a

community preservation project. This page will be used to keep everyone updated on progress, as well as hall booking details.

Thanks to everyone who came for a visit at the Colac Arts and Craft Show today, and to the Colac Otway Shire Youth Engagement Team for the badge making activity. Final session is from 10:30am to 4pm Sunday. There will be another interactive opportunity for kids to get creative alongside enjoying all the fantastic artworks from local painters, photographers and crafters.

The Colac Arts and Craft Show will be open at the Colac Log Cabin Scout Hall this afternoon between 2pm and 5pm featuring a mix of painting, drawing, photography, craft and ceramics, plus a badge making demonstration with the Colac Otway Shire Youth Engagement team. The Art and Craft Show will be open again on Sunday between 10:30am and 4pm with a creative arts space for kids to explore drawing styles and textures.

2nd Colac Sea Scout Group utilised the Log Cabin Hall for their three day camp over the school holidays, after their Beechy Rail Trail hike camp was postponed due to the bushfire conditions. Lots of activities enjoyed locally instead including swimming, bushwalking, camp craft and navigation.
