The eagle hasn’t landed just yet—but it’s getting close! 🦅

After four years off Kirra Hill, the iconic Kirra sea eagle is rumoured to be returning to its perch above one of the Gold Coast’s most loved surf breaks.

A familiar sight for more than 40 years, the original sculpture was one of the city’s most visited and cherished landmarks. In 2023, City of Gold Coast announced plans to install a replica, and while it’s still a few months away, progress is underway.

Nothing says Aussie beach culture like the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships—and in 2025, they’re coming to Kirra!

From Saturday 29 March to Sunday 6 April, surf lifesavers from across the country will go head-to-head in over 480 beach and ocean events, from Ironman races to beach sprints.

It’s the biggest surf sports event in the country—so whether you’re competing, cheering from the sidelines, or just soaking up the electric beach energy, you won’t want to miss it. And if you fall in love with Kirra along the way, Rhythm Kirra Hill is just moments from the action!

The Gold Coast Airport’s Master Plan is a game-changer for our region, shaping the future of travel, business, and lifestyle. As one of Australia’s fastest-growing airports, it already welcomes 6.2 million passengers annually—and by 2044, that number is forecast to reach nearly 13 million. Alongside this, airport-related jobs are set to almost double, from 3,054 in 2022 to almost 6,000.
