For the past few weeks Murrunmala Dhawun Rangers and Coonabarabran LALC Staff have been working alongside the incredible Heidi McGlashan from Daring Leadership bringing together our team, creating purpose, learning about communications and grounding us in our roles.

Yesterday our Rangers had the chance to join St Puis & Christian Brothers High School on their Red Dirt Immersion Tour at Sandstone Caves.

We shared knowledge of what our Ranger Program offers, shared stories of our local area and spent time on country.

This was our 3rd Year attending the Red Dirt Immersion Tour and we look forward to many years to come.

A huge thank you to Sam and Blake for the opportunity to join.

ABORIGINAL SITES COURSE: This week our Rangers participated in an Aboriginal Sites Course facilitated by TAFE NSW at the Coonabarabran LALC.

The course was taught by Uncle Victor Briggs. Participants were very appreciative for his sharing of knowledge and stories.

A huge thank you to Gail Simpson for organising the course.

We look forward to many more training opportunities with TAFE NSW.

BUSHFIRE TRAINING: Over the past 2 days our Women’s Ranger Team participated in training held by our local Castlereagh Zone RFS to become Basic Bushfire Fighters.

During the two days Graham, Val, the RFS team and our Rangers developed the skills and knowledge to be able to attend a bushfire.

The boys attended on day 2 to showcase what they have learnt and practised scenarios should a fire arise and both crews have to attend, the race was on between the boys and girls to see who could do it right, the fastest.. it depends who you ask as to who won the race.

Thanks to the Castlereagh Zone for hosting us and providing the training to our Rangers. This partnership is one we truly value and look forward to continuing well into the future.

Lest We Forget.

Today our female Ranger crew visited the Castlereagh Zone Fire Control Centre. They were lucky enough to be showed around the grounds by Graham who shared knowledge of the RFS facilities, the equipment and met the incredible RFS staff.

Thanks to Graham and the team for allowing our Rangers to visit, they are already looking forward to forward to completing their training!

MEET OUR TEAM: We have now fully recruited our Ranger team so we thought we would introduce them all.

Overall, our Rangers are keen to connect with community, learn & share culture and gain the skills to be able to care for country. Look out in the community for our Rangers and we look forward to sharing their journey with you all.
